Where is the sudden smoke for Devries coming from?

Discord says Rabby. Who obviously has had a tough day.

Fans and media pushing a name that just became “available” since missing the tourney. This is normal, I wouldn’t take too much into the talk.

It's fun for some to think about but I doubt that Dolson made it that far down the list. I still think it'll be McCollum. He seems to fit the Cignetti mold that SD is undoubtedly looking for

I would be reasonably encouraged by McCollum. Still think there’s no real excuse not to get one of: Beard, Golden, Wade.

With the Iowa or IU job being more attractive to Devries / McCollum, keep in mind that decisions aren’t purely about money and NIL. Sometimes fit and emotion are bigger determinants. Both those guys are from Iowa. Just a thought

Bloomington and Des Moines are 500 miles apart and both in the midwestern farm belt... not that different, actually... Iowa City is only about 400 miles from Btown.

I’m not saying it is Brad, but there is plenty of reasons it isn’t being announced today.

1. The new coach could be notifying their current employer today.

2. IU could want to wait to announce on Wednesday or Thursday morning to ensure we are a big topic of conversation during the first round of the tournament.

3. The new coach may have still needed to tell their children about the change they are about to make.

4. Final paperwork may have still needed to be signed and or money moved to make it all official.

There is 4 reasons off the top of my head. I know we all want to know who the new coach is, but I’m not surprised it didn’t come out today. I think if the tourney starts and we haven’t heard anything, it is a coach of a tournament team. Until then, it could be anyone.

5) By all accounts, Indiana expected to be playing a game or 2 this week.  So they did not have plans to make an announcement this early.

Except for the attacking the portal idea. Devries would have that over McCollum obviously. And also I'm not real sure anyone knows Dolson's list. Devries very well could and some would argue should be higher than McCollum.

I'm not gonna base the future of the program on who has the jump on the portal. FOMO has taken down stronger men

Yes, his NBA-Ready son got injured in game #8 and was their leading scorer!  He got WVA to 19 wins in the Big 12 without his leading scorer.  At Drake he won over 21 games every hear in those 6 years.!!

And we all know, according to the king, 21 wins is enough...

Like everyone else, “I’m tired, boss.”

I just want the selection to be made and to move on, hopefully for the better. I thought CrimsonCast did a great job of voicing the base’s frustrations as a whole last night. Been an IU fan my whole life, but I’m about at the end of my rope with patience and feel like we get little-to-nothing in return. I want to be optimistic, but dang…the university needs to make amends with a fan base that continuously gets crapped on-by national media, the decisions the admin makes, and even our own coach the past 4 years. So just GET IT RIGHT, SCOTT.

OH ALSO, I’m gonna be so unbearable if this hire sucks and Dusty continues to crush it. Never thought I’d be considering moving my loyalty to UM basketball full-time, but I can’t do another 25 years like this. Sorry for rambling.

No, once you’re a poor coach you kick puppies and punch babies.

No one will ever convince me Woody didn’t think he could do well here and be a good coach. I’ll go ahead and assume his intentions were pure. Unfortunately, reality is a cruel mistress.

He definitely thought he could. His problem was that he thought his mere presence would make it so and that was about all he was willing to do.

TJD's game improved in his time when Woodson was there.  Just because a guy is a poor coach doesn't mean he didn't make a connection with a particular player.

I would even say he was a good but not great coach.  People really bought into the idea that the players hated him.  Maybe Chris or JY can shed light on that now that he is gone but from my little bit of inside connection he does seem to connect to people well (other than remembering their names)

Keeping on saying that does not make it true.

Darian Devries is most certainly not a “lower tier coach.” He’s just not an extraordinarily famous coach

People just want to gloat to friends, co-workers, and family members who are alums/fans of different schools. DeVries doesn't provide that satisfaction.
