In terms of the last twenty five years of results, ARE we to be considered a powerhouse program to anyone outside ourselves? Right now we have money and... that's it.

If he's got the stones to take the job after the last two hires, that's a good starting quality to have in a coach. Who knows, maybe we're getting the newest powerhouse coach.

For what it's worth, I believe this is smoke and nothing more. The timing is so predictable it's almost ridiculous.

Still, it stands to reason, regardless of who gets hired this is not a powerhouse program until we win.

Sisley clearly loves IU. So does Goode. I’m hopeful Goode gets his redshirt and can pass that torch to Sisley.

I never said anything about a verbal. I said believing there was a done deal and it somehow might have broken down at the 11th hour some five weeks later isn’t remotely believable. To paraphrase myself since you didn’t read what I said: “it’s either done, or it was dead in a week.” 
 

And that’s before you start getting into the weeds on it not being a state secret Woody was on his last leg a year ago. If your original comment is true, either Brad Stevens is the single most indecisive human ever offered 8 figures, or Scott Dolson is a complete and total dunce. Neither of which I believe is true.

We do this every time. For every Bo Ryan there’s 10 or 50 others that failed. I’m not going to sit here and pray McCollum is the next Bo Ryan and Bruce Pearl…if you are, then chances are you’re in for a disappointment. Not to mention…we’re in the NIL era now. Much has changed since those 2 came on board

If they get who they want instead of who he wants that could be a problem! I think Sisley is the best way to start him off! Hard working, relentless, student of the game, and talented! Give me more of them.

If we hire McCollum, do we have to worry about over committing NIL funds to Sisley and the kid from overseas?

We've heard about how efficient his offense is and I guess he gives the players lots of freedom. I would think that the necessarily knowledge and discipline to perform well in an offense like that would take some time to develop. I guess my question/concern is how long does that take? This would likely have an impact on next year but it would also have an effect on recruiting/roster turnover in the future.

Brother he went 30-3 in his first year. Drake lost a ton of players. The answer is not long.

Have you actually paid attention to the hires of power conference teams lately. Show me all of these power conference coaches leaving their jobs for another power conference team. You have a guy like Cal who wanted out of UK and UL was ready for a change but you don't see successful coaches leaving.

To me UK hiring Pope is the Equivalent of us hiring Brownell. UL hiring Kelsey would he no different than us hiring McCollum.

Nope just kids that understand basketball at its core and love playing the game for a coach who coaches it the way it was intended!

I’ll admit a decent portion of my concern about McCollum comes from what we went through with Archie , if the McCollum fan boys admit they have rose colored glasses because of Cig . In reality he’s not Archie , but he’s not Cig either .
 

the Archie comparison is apples to oranges , but the Cig  comparison is apples to spinach 
 

this is an insanely risky hire . Unique offensive systems make me nervous in a conference like the Big Ten . again I also stand by he doesn’t get 4 years . He gets 2 MAYBE 3 years to win over 20 games .

If he thinks that’s absolutely the best play, I say go for it. Shoot your shot. I just pray he has an astute basketball mind and balls of steel.  
 

I’d much rather go all-in on the unknown uber talent than hire a decent but not great coach just so we don’t fail.
