The other 2 years he had 1 bad year and 1 where the season got cancelled. This year is TBD on where his team ends up after his ucla team is announced for anther tourney selection. That sweet 16 game they lost to the Zags was a really good game 2 times of the Sweet 16. Went once when he was Cincinnati. Edited February 16, 2025 by OliviaPope40
RoadRage Posted February 16, 2025 Posted February 16, 2025 Just for grins and giggles I compared Cronin’s first 5 seasons at UCLA to Alford’s first 5. Alford 117-57 - 3 Sweet 16s - made tournament 4 out of 5 years Cronin 115-53 - 2 Sweet 16s - 1 Final 4 - made tournament 3 of 5 years (no tournament Covid) So, yes, Cronin had the final 4 run but is just marginally better than Alford in his first 5 seasons, and I know none of you want Alford. I just hope Cronin isn’t the choice, but the way he is being pushed right now, you never know? cybergates and CSP 1 1

Gameface01 Posted February 16, 2025 Posted February 16, 2025 Since speaking of what we want consistently from a new coach. I remember watching Knights mid to late 90s teams and we all knowing it was less than accustomed to. Yet they were still between 10-17 in rankings. Boy what had all been taken for granted with where were at today thebigweave, lillurk, go iu bb and 1 other 4

Hornsby Posted February 16, 2025 Posted February 16, 2025 Now wait just a minute… I was attacked for comments like this. I thought obvious storytelling was encouraged. You don't belive he was going to sign tomorrow but then it changed to march 2nd. Soon it will change to after the ncaa. Lol it's not even a good story. They call it a tall tale. Easily. May has a top 25 offense last 3 years. Recruited a McDs AA this year, got transfer haul, and has a protected seed with many new pieces. And he’s only 48. What am I missing? That he’s only coached at this level for one season. I’m a May fan but, if you’re Dolson, you have to recognize there’s still some risk there.

I know a guy who worked for him (you can figure it out) and he and his wife loved Mick. Yes, a bit of a wacko on the sidelines similar to Hurley but he doesn’t give any rope. The inmates do not run the asylum and his teams play their ***** off. Some of the pressers remind me of a guy that used to coach here. Calling out the B1G BS travel/scheduling, not accepting his players playing soft. I personally have no issue with it. I think IU fans would warm up to him pretty quick as other fans complain about him. Where I pause is that his teams consistently lack offensive efficiency, though his recently talented team at UCLA was near the top. It has been proven that you need a highly efficient offense to win a title. I believe May could deliver that here. Goes back to the high floor/lower ceiling argument with Cronin. As of right now he has no signings for next year. Can he not recruit or is he not recruiting because he plans on being somewhere else next year Sent from my Pixel 6a using Tapatalk Fair question. His portal haul this year was very good, apparently UCLA committed to NIL a bit more this offseason.

I think some people don’t think May has a long enough resume and think his tourney run was more of a fluke. But given his buyout and the fact that Dolson was ready to hire him last offseason, I have to think he is plan B. people said he was turned off after the game in Bloomington last weekend with the treatment Woodson got, but who knows. People have also mentioned his family being so close and maybe don’t want him at iu bc if it doesn’t go well, it may not end well (no pun intended). Pearl was also approached last offseason and said last year or never. Then all the stuff with his son. So we’ll see.
