Didn’t he go to  3 straight sweet 16s out of his 5 years at ucla so far?  The other 2 years he had 1 bad year and 1 where the season got cancelled.  This year is TBD on where his team ends up after his ucla team is announced for anther tourney selection.  That sweet 16 game they lost to the Zags was a really good game

2 times of the Sweet 16. Went once when he was Cincinnati.

Just for grins and giggles I compared Cronin’s first 5 seasons at UCLA to Alford’s first 5.

Alford 117-57 - 3 Sweet 16s - made tournament 4 out of 5 years

Cronin 115-53 - 2 Sweet 16s -  1 Final 4 - made tournament 3 of 5 years (no tournament Covid)

So, yes, Cronin had the final 4 run but is just marginally better than Alford in his first 5 seasons, and I know none of you want Alford. I just hope Cronin isn’t the choice, but the way he is being pushed right now, you never know?

A whole 2 and he's been at UCLA lol

Yeah,  kinda meh, but if he was a little more consistent, like say 2 sweet 16's  and a Final Four in 3 of the 4 years he coached there that the tournament was held, well then...checks notes.

Now wait just a minute… I was attacked for comments like this. I thought obvious storytelling was encouraged.

You don't belive he was going to sign tomorrow but then it changed to march 2nd. Soon it will change to after the ncaa. Lol it's not even a good story. They call it a tall tale.

Among the top 20 coaches with winning percentage, active, Id take May over Calipari, Pitino, Dixon, Matta, and Kelsey. Easily.

May has a top 25 offense last 3 years. Recruited a McDs AA this year, got transfer haul, and has a protected seed with many new pieces. And he’s only 48. What am I missing?

That he’s only coached at this level for one season. I’m a May fan but, if you’re Dolson, you have to recognize there’s still some risk there.

I will do you all a favor a leave this board

This board is like a cult and the insiders are Jim Jones and and the others are the followers. If you question the leaders then the followers jump anyone who question the cult

I have no idea, I have no idea, and I am bummer Cronin is even being talked about.

30 years with 1-2 championship level teams, 1 team made it past the sw16, what are we doing?

You don’t seem to realize that you’re the delusional one here. You ignore facts being presented to you and counter with your feelings.

Feel away, you just haven’t presented anything that’s actually worthy of discussion.

Two years ago at FAU he finished Kenpom 17 (UM is currently 22nd), final 4, 35-4; last year they were KP 47, basically a miracle at FAU.

I don't think he can recruit well enough to stay near the top of the Big ten. As of right now he has no signings for next year. Can he not recruit or is he not recruiting because he plans on being somewhere else next year

Fair question. His portal haul this year was very good, apparently UCLA committed to NIL a bit more this offseason.

I think some people don’t think May has a long enough resume and think his tourney run was more of a fluke.

But given his buyout and the fact that Dolson was ready to hire him last offseason, I have to think he is plan B.

people said he was turned off after the game in Bloomington last weekend with the treatment Woodson got, but who knows. People have also mentioned his family being so close and maybe don’t want him at iu bc if it doesn’t go well, it may not end well (no pun intended).

Pearl was also approached last offseason and said last year or never.  Then all the stuff with his son.  So we’ll see.
