Galen Clavio did a videos suggesting Matt Painter.  I don’t hate it at all. lol.  It would never happen but wouldn’t that be the Coup de Grace?

Guy is a tremendous coach but I’m not sure the increased NIL would actually help him.  Might hurt him, if he goes away from getting the type of guys he gets. To me, he’s a top 3 coach dollar for dollar.

I really thought Painter was a strong candidate for UK last cycle. Seems they’ll be pleased with Pope but it made sense at UK for all the reasons Galen lays out that it would at IU, without the complications of leaving your alma mater for a rival.

But if it would be Dusty, would IU have looked at him without IU ties? What other programs were looking at him before he chose Michigan? Currently, I have this lukewarm feeling about him and that may be unfair...

I live in Lafayette and a lot of people around here say Painter can’t coach because he hasn’t won a championship with all the talent he’s had…lol

Louisville and Vandy last cycle.   Everyone thought he was Louisville bound and Michigan came in late

Galen has too much free time. Pick the most random dude in the Patriot League and he’d be here before Painter. Hell, Doug Gottlieb would be here before Painter.

I think Dusty is a very solid chance. But not guaranteed.  
 

Indiana is gonna have to do a lot of back channeling to create a roster.  
 

If we hire a coach that makes a tournament run we will have limited time to get things rolling. I imagine our AD is very cognizant of this. 
 

I think we ultimately probably regret not getting Beard in the long run.  

Yeah, this is a tricky spot if our new coach makes a run. He will have like 5-7 days to get a staff and a full roster before the portal closes. Lot of behind the scenes work will need to happen. Big time timing issue with portal closing and revenue sharing kicking in. 
Stevens has interest (don’t we all), whatever that means. Still don’t think it ever happens. 
Dusty has interest for obvious reason. ($, resources, family)

Beard was a hard no when I asked if we would pursue him. Does that change if we swing and miss on others? I doubt it.

Too lazy to read back . Why all of a sudden two  out of three insiders not as confident in we have our guy?  What has changed.? Never bought  it anyway but still had some glimmer of hope.
