Hoping for the white whale.

But if it would be Dusty, would IU have looked at him without IU ties? What other programs were looking at him before he chose Michigan? Currently, I have this lukewarm feeling about him and that may be unfair...

Louisville and Vandy last cycle.   Everyone thought he was Louisville bound and Michigan came in late

Galen Clavio did a videos suggesting Matt Painter.  I don’t hate it at all. lol.  It would never happen but wouldn’t that be the Coup de Grace?

Guy is a tremendous coach but I’m not sure the increased NIL would actually help him.  Might hurt him, if he goes away from getting the type of guys he gets. To me, he’s a top 3 coach dollar for dollar.

Galen has too much free time. Pick the most random dude in the Patriot League and he’d be here before Painter. Hell, Doug Gottlieb would be here before Painter.

Too lazy to read back . Why all of a sudden two  out of three insiders not as confident in we have our guy?  What has changed.? Never bought  it anyway but still had some glimmer of hope.

Same old it’s either going to Stevens or May (other candidates, if it’s not those 2), but at the end wait around the BTT about a potential decision. Which is what I’m going to do

Stevens is an option til he says no. Not sure why some think that isn’t a thing?

He's turned it down before. Plus he left college to coach the Celtics then he chose to leave coaching to join the front office.

Doesn't seem like he really wants to be a coach anymore.

After watching/listening to some IU people I'm starting to think Drew might be a real possibility. I just don't think it'll be Steven's because, come on. I also don't think it'll be May for multiple reasons including the fact IU is cutting ties with one of their own this year. Do they want to run the risk of "running 2 of their own out" in consecutive cycles? Idk anything but I'm trying to view this logically.

We can try but Stevens isn't walking through that door. I'd love to be wrong; IU needs a grand slam hire, they cannot keep whiffing. Not many hires would say "we're done screwing around" quite like that.

I don't see May leaving Michigan after one year, and I wouldn’t be enthused with that hire anyway.

If the alleged Stevens money was available for other coaches that might make it easier to hit this one out.

I am going to go out on a limb and say that Scott Drew's version of Christianity would not preclude him from leaving a Christian school.  Would seem funny if a coach threatened to have a player deported if they didn't go to their school would draw the line at coaching at a non-Christian school.

Please try to show Scott Drew a little grace.  It must have been a little chilly there in the shadow of such a paragon of Christian virtue as Dave Bliss.  For all we know he may have been led to believe that as long as he didn't hand out extra benefits or sign any murderers he would be given a free hand in recruiting.  Of course murder, even more so than extra benefits, is kind of a big deal in Texas.  I think you also need to remember that in Texas getting someone deported isn't considered as "unsporting" as it might be in the Hoosier state.

Now that NIL compensation and the NCAA's new revenue-sharing plan have provided so much financial latitude in recruiting, the Baylor job has probably become a lot less inhibiting for Drew.  IU fans are naturally biased, but with all of its rules and restrictions and considerable distance from the border I don't see how the Indiana job would be all that attractive to him.  Unless Dolson is willing to allow some wiggle room when it comes to signing murderers I just don't think he would see it as a step up.

From what I have gathered: RTZ stated 60/40 in favor of May at this point.  Didn't elaborate.  Chris and the others are still hearing positive things about Stevens.  One guy who knows a BOT member said Stevens wasn't interested in coaching.

Yeagley and Chris are still strong pro Stevens unless I miss  Oed something. A couple others seem to be hearing things positive for Stevens.

One of the new guys is the only one really saying there is no chance. (And Chris hinted he heard the opposite today)

"One guy who knows a BOT member said Stevens wasn't interested in coaching."   That is not all the post related about what came allegedly from a person in the Athletic Department.  Stevens allegedly pointed out that he was not planning in the foreseeable future to return to coaching in college.  But if he did that it would be at IU.

At this point it is just a rumor.  I question it because it went through multiple people and I speculate that those in the know are keeping lips sealed.  However, once people in the BOT find out, they love to talk.

Plus, normally at this stage of the process coaches use representatives and don't talk about other potential jobs when they have jobs.

So, I am holding my powder dry until the next rumor or embellishment on this one.  Want to start a new rumor?

My wife's brother is deceased.  Used to work for a firm right next to the sports consulting and law firm in Indianapolis that Dolson used to work for.  His widowed wife told us yesterday that Stevens had someone in Zionsville airport that was talking to someone that signed in from the firm that a daughter did not recognize but they were talking about coaching at IU.  The family member works at the FBO up there.

The one coach no one is talking about, and who could really take IU to the next level is Norman Dale. I have no doubt that our offense and defense would be vastly improved.

Yeah but many around here would think his Ben McCollum pace is too slow and boring-- "4 passes before you take a shot!"...

But he has said no, we just don't want to listen.  Seventy-two hours after "we got our guy" and "we got him" posts, we're seeing "60/40" posts from the same "insider."  This place is wild...

Reminder....Jerry mentioned wayyyyyyy back 1000 posts ago in the retire Woodson thread that "we have our guy" and that we would know before the tournament starts....either he was wrong OR most likely someone NOT coaching in the tournament. It looks like most of the coaches mentioned will be in the tournament, including May, Pearl, Beard, McCollum, Drew, etc....Jay Wright, Brad Stevens and Billy Donovan only 3 mentioned that will definitely not be coaching in the tournament this year. Am I missing anyone? I mean unless its a D2 coach....or, lord help us, Randy Wittman....
