General Coach Candidate News

I was at church yesterday and overheard a couple friends of mine talking about the coaching search. I walked up and they asked what I thought and I told the I still think it’s Stevens. One guy rolled his eyes and shook his head and the other guy (IU grad and local doctor in our home town) looked surprised and said, “Huh, why do you think that?”

and with the chance we are right, we'll look like geniuses!...

Am I one of a few wearing rose colored glasses for Stevens? I honestly can’t even focus on any other candidate until he’s either 100% the one or officially ruled out. There’s nothing wrong with this mindset for all you pessimists.
I guess the reason why I’m so comfortable in this coaching search is because I HAVE 100% confidence that Dolson’s going to bring in a great haul in Stevens or someone else with a top notch resume that we will all love.
There’s just something about this search that feels different and different in a positive way that we have never seen the likes of.

Just stay off the edge of the cliff when he doesn't come.

nope you're not alone..

I have a $10 bet with a PUke fan co worker that it's BS and anyone that asks, I'm saying the same. Not wavering..

If I'm wrong, so what?

Here’s to you real man of genius “fans that have unwavering faith that it’s got to be Brad Stevens this time, no way can he say he wants to be a Masshole again”

….that’s just it. I won’t.
Like I said, I totally trust Dolson’s searching process and eventual choice, if it’s not Stevens. I’m at peace with it! Lol

Go IU!

It’s not that I don’t trust Dolson.  It’s the BOT and Whitten that has to sign off on the hire that worries me.

Based on what I've seen elsewhere, including Peegs and Trilly discord, there really does not seem to be any information about the search coming from the agent side of things. Literally the only info we're getting is from people connected to donors.

Which makes sense -- these are people not professionally tied to the situation, but have a personal and financial investment in it. So of course Dolson is communicating with them to some degree about what he is up to. And of course that's the only place from which any info seems to be coming. Everything else at this point seems to be pure speculation.

To reiterate, I'm not an insider and I don't know diddly squat. But after years perusing various boards with "insider" sources, I've learned to read the tea leaves a bit. If I were a betting man, I'd be putting money on Brad Stevens right now. That's just where my gut is.

atta boy...

This hurts my Stevens to IU narrative.  So I've decided you are wrong.

Pags getting the team, which is what Celtics fans hope happens if Wyc does sell, would also keep the status quo/keep things stable in the organization.

FWIW the BOT just gave Whitten a contract extension and a raise which I'd take as a signal they'd be in her corner if it's a hire she and Dolson want to make.  There was one reported dissenting vote but it wasn't QB, it was Vivian Winston.

Highly unpopular opinion but I’d rather get a motivated Chris Beard than Drew.

Drew if we are lucky enough to get him should make us a consistent winner, I’d guess. I like it better than Cronin. Both would probably be solid.

Then it becomes, staffing, and portal excitement which is where the real winning will need to happen.

I don’t see her signing off on Beard no matter what.  He’s the guy we need to get imo.
