Was it a one time thing? Was this something he’s done before? Is he the stereotypical 1950s partner who slaps his partner around when his dinner is a few minutes late? We don’t know. Sometimes relationships are toxic and people do regrettable, uncharacteristic things in them. I think I read on here that his partner also had a past history of DV, but I could be mistaken. It’s not hard to imagine a set of circumstances that would lead to a drunken fight between partners. It doesn’t excuse his actions. We have free will. He could’ve chosen to remove himself from the situation. He didn’t, and he’s faced the consequences for that decision. The backstory doesn’t matter to some and I understand that, but I do think it’s important when you’re assessing the likelihood of it happening again. And if people think it’s disqualifying on its own and it doesn’t matter whether he’s likely to do it again, I have no problem with that view. I’m not clamoring for Beard as the #1 option. If we can hire someone as good or better, awesome! I’ll just be highly frustrated if Dolson passes on Beard to hire a Brownell. I am surrounded by family and acquaintances that either put people in jail, or work with people with addictions. It's an interesting time at our gatherings. The one thing both sides agree on is, almost everyone has a rock bottom moment that will change their lives and stop the bad behaviors for good. Beard seems to be a great father, hard worker and probably will never screw up again, because he has way too much to lose. Mark Few has been named here as a choice for our coach. What if he would have killed someone when he got his DUI. Luckily he didn't but he did the crime and he probably was scared sh!tless and won't do it again. What about Izzo and how his assistant coach abused women and how some of his players apparently did the same? Why was he forgiven for not being smart enough to see what was right in front of him. I don't know, but I do believe in second chances, because people do hit rock bottom and change their lives. Saying all that, Beard is a great coach, not my choice for IU, but I just happen to prefer others. My social working family members explain things to me, and my prosecuting side actually do believe in second chances. That's all, and probably too long for anyone to read. I have no issue if the search firm finds that Beard isn't an option because of his, alleged, current drinking or the situation the night he was arrested. The questioning his coaching make me laugh. Listening through some basketball podcasts over the last 3 weeks, one of the key metrics for winning it all is offensive efficiency. There are a few outliers but all but like 3ish national champions had top 5 offenses on Kenpom. The outliers were still top 25. But the defensive efficiencies were also top 25, most top 10. So to me it’s more important to have an offensive minded head coach than defensive. But the defense needs to still be top 25 on kenpom. There was an article that was shared here from over a year ago which was talking about Danny Hurley's recruiting philosophy. He basically said he recruits players for their offense since offensive is what wins championships. pumpfake, lillurk, moyemayhem and 1 other 4

Especially those that live to judge other people they do not know or have ever met. Most of us do believe in second chances but we have a percentage of people who do not. I hope for their sake they are never falsely accused or something like that given the no second chance stance. Sent from my SM-A146U using Tapatalk IndianaSconnie90, Hoosier987, Stuhoo and 2 others 5
