The noncon schedule and performance was just so poor. Also worry about bid stealers if the resume isn’t great going into the conference tournament If IU beats Ohio Stste, their first round game would be Thursday against a quad 1 team. Hoosierfanyuh 1

Best IU can do is finish .500. I hate that this led me to looking up our conference record history. Since Crean's first year in 2009, 4 seasons above .500 in conference. 3 by Crean and 1 by Woodson. Ugh. thebigweave and realTomCrean 2

Win or lose Saturday it can be a positive. Win we go dancing most likely… lose we start locking in on the coaching front and that much closer to having hopefully an actual college basketball coach thebigweave and Scooter T Washington 2

Good ******* riddance. No sh*t. One of my favorite things about the Knight era was you pretty much knew what you were going to get. Some nights other teams were better but the ebbs and flows and the massive coaching disparity was never there. Indiana didn't shoot 12 fewer FT's than their opponent or miss them as consistently as they do now. They generally had point guards. Knight knew which 5 kids played well together and didn't keep trying to succeed with kids who didn't. Woodson showed tonight why he was fir.....I mean why he felt it was best he retire. He got abused tonight. thebigweave, Stuhoo, MikeRoberts and 13 others 16

str8baller Posted March 5 Posted March 5 I know Otz is a rising star and thus hasn’t faced much criticism, but if you want to read some go see what ISU fans are saying about him after last nights heartbreaker. Cliffs notes: obviously his team play hard, good defense and turns the other team over consistently. But late game offensive execution (off. execution being something I pointed out in another post) and possibly blocking out/rebounding being a theme that comes up with them. I could live with a poor offensive coach if they can offset it with great defense and good enough recruiting to make the O effective at least. After Woody I don’t know if I can handle 4 more years of teams that don’t block out and rebound. 8bucks, theriverpilot, IU Faithful and 1 other 4
AZ Hoosier Posted March 5 Posted March 5 7 hours ago, lillurk said: Yep, by all logic they SHOULD matter a lot — neutral games against teams from your own conference! And a better process would weigh them appropriately. But the committee based process…doesn’t. There are also cases where a team that isn't close to consideration by the selection committee stealing the bid from the regular season conference champ - especially in the low-mid majors whose conference only gets the automatic qualifier into the tournament. IMO, it weakens the field. The tournament field is a zero-sum game - for every team that gets in, another is left out... I am still confused why a conference plays a long regular season (14-20 conference games) only to lose their bid to the dance to be stolen by a team who happens to get hot and wins a 3-4-5 day conference tournament.
Ryno6284 Posted March 5 Posted March 5 Give me McDermott! I will take 6-8 years of top 4-5 in the B1G to establish IU again! Get the program on a solid foundation and then get the long term guy! HinnyHoosier and HoosierSadaseci 2

(always thinking about how it’s a different world in small college sports and individuals coaches and players)

A big factor for the FT discrepancy in a lot of games, including last night, can be pointed at that.
maharkn Posted March 5 Posted March 5 Just bring in the top five high school players in the countries coaches on staff and bring those players with them. Keith Smart welcome back to IU
