My prediction, we make another disappointing hire then some posters gaslight themselves into thinking it's actually a good one then we're back here in 4 years. We have to stick to the process.

If the hire is disappointing then we can stop pretending we're a basketball school and the trend towards football goes full steam ahead.

Right, he came on here and said everybody got told to stop talking, and then he stopped.

That's where my head is at. Brad talk was at a fever pitch and then certain insiders got told to hush it up. Right after that, Goodmans vague a$$ tweet comes out. Smells like carp to me! Fishy as hell!

If Dolson had his guy which would now be about two months now I would say Brad Stevens stock for IU job goes way up.

A great scenario would be Brad Stevens as a highly paid General Manager of IU basketball operations (GM may work with T. Moren women as well) and Josh Schertz as head men’s basketball coach.

As head men’s basketball coach Brad Stevens would be an asset for the IU Ladies Basketball program as well something that seems to be lacking.

And 4 years ago he assured everyone we had Brad.  Not saying he doesn’t have sources but I highly doubt anyone but a few very high up people in the IU athletic department have a clue here.  I doubt the big donors do either.  They were just asked if they’d cover some of the salary IF Dolson could land Brad.

Exactly. There’s no such thing as an “insider” who has info on a coaching search. Certainly not multiple searches over many years. Sometimes someone knows something about a recruit because they may know the family, but that’s a one time deal. The speculation is fun, though

I mean once the decision is made you have no choice but to look at what positives there are, not like any of us can change the decision lol

Depends what you mean by insider.  If you mean someone who knows definitely what will happen I agree.  But I see insiders as people close to someone who sees or hears something. That something could be wrong, it could end up being right or it could have been 100% right at that moment then changed later.

For example, my new VP is Marty Simmons SIL.  If Marty were a candidate, a strong candidate or had no interest I would have strong inside info. Side note, no, Marty is not a candidate.

The hire a minimum must give people hope.  Guys like Brownell and McDermott absolutely do not and would both be doa.  If not a big name it has to be an up and comer with high potential.  Anyone else we’re back here in a few years guaranteed.

He’ll be Brownell’s assistant :-)
