I suggest listening to Podcast on the Brink with @Mike Wiemuth (iuinphilly). Mike gave a very interesting detail on what NC coaches have in common. Look for a coach who has set an all-time wins record at a school. I don't remember how far back his research went but it was eye opening to say the least. Only one did not and that was Coach K because he couldn’t top Knight at Army. Mike also (my inference only) seemed to allude to Drew as being the best candidate we could hope to get and I agree.

We went over this stat a few hundred pages back.

Under this stat, Brad Brownell qualifies. Lots of small school coaches who couldn’t hack it in the big times would.

I **kind of** like it as an “eliminator” stat, but it isn’t dispositive.  Under this stat you would have eliminated Coach K (the most prolific coach since Wooden) and Hurley and possibly Roy Williams (depending on your stance on ties). That’s a whole lot of championships missed to put a lot of weight in that heuristic.

The stat kind of just tells you something you already know to be true: great coaches at the highest level were also really good coaches at a lower level.

Certainly understandable, he'd had to leave a really good gig for a job he's turned down before.

.....that he supposedly turned down and supposedly really wanted to take.

I haven't been on HSN for awhile. Who are the plugged in insiders over there? didn't IUWins0708 frequent over there a lot?

....yes. I believe DC2345 is the one plugged in over there. We've seen him here too.

Isaac will always be a legend even if he is just a troll (Most likely) He had BTB and Trilly's discord in a tailspin. Legend!

he won't get me! Are we seriously still on the Stevens to IU train AGAIN?  Weren't we due news shortly after the NBA All Star game regarding mister Stevens?  We all but certain got a rash of he's not coming and onto the next if I recall.  At this rate, IF and I am not certain why I am even considering putting this sentence in but here I am doing so IF Stevens becomes our HC, the expectations will be even higher if he becomes the HC then say any other individual not named Stevens how soon before our intense fan base runs him off if he delivers subpar or results similar to Woody?

I guess Brownell did do it this year

Yes. I don't think it's a predictive stat, more of an affirming one.

"We"? There is no "we" as far as having an opinion on Stevens one way or another. Some people believe he'll be the next coach, some people believe that IU at least has a chance, and others believe he's not a legitimate possibility.
