Of the potentially infinite number of parallel universes that could theoretically exist, in not 1 of them was Crean fired after 2011, Zeller or no Zeller.

In mine he would have been. A few of us called it at the time.

I think some misremember how much that Zeller commitment floated Crean through that third year. The Sheehey/VO class seemed a little light and his big class of Watford, Hulls, Elston, and Creek were sophs that paired with Jones eeked out a whole 12 wins.  The Zeller commit and Creek injury bought a ton of good will.

You’re probably right in your assessment.  But a school like Kentucky might have done it. That Indiana never would have doesn’t speak to the impossibility of such a move as it does our mild disposition towards actually winning.

He didn’t say what TIME ZONE he was referencing.

So, the announcement could be in Japan on Monday and aired in US on Sunday.  Are the Celtics playing anywhere in Asia soon?

Facebook is so unhinged. I saw something on my feed that said Netflix was making a documentary about Indiana PF Malik Reneau.  It had a lot of likes.

Never having a Facebook account is the best decision I ever made. Just in the last couple weeks my Mom sent me a screenshot of a fake news story saying Reneau had announced he was transferring mid season. She sent another real looking article saying IU had already hired someone like Chris Holtman. She believes everything she reads on the internet. Its scary when it comes to current events and politics.

Rando coach suggestion of the day.

Walking back the "won't be another IU guy."

Jim Crews

Disclaimer:  I am in NO WAY advocating that Crews would be a good choice for the next IU coach but the UE basketball program hasn't been the same since he left.  With the exception of Walter McCarty's one win against UK.

I love this but he’s changed the date a few times now hahaha, I’m guessing there will be a “hiccup” when it doesn’t happen after the count down

I must've missed it. What was the reason he gave for it not happening yesterday? Stevens' pen ran out of ink or something?

And he took advantage of that win by, how can I put this, not doing things a college basketball coach shouldn't be doing with coeds on campus when his wife is in Boston.  They haven't been able to recover from that either while he could've been able to really build off of that.

The amount of African user name spam about IU is crazy on FB.

Crean would have one decent year and then completely fall off the cliff the next.  Cronin would provide much more stability.  And Crean was going nowhere but down.  He had burned every bridge in the state.  Things were only going to get worse.

Yeah. That is the problem with only look at the “record.”  Results matter, butt the real question is what foundation produced those results?  Was it just luck?  Crean’s foundation was crumbling.   Woodson never bothered to build a foundation.  You look at candidates who have success at multiple locations because they can build that foundation — May, Cronin, Pitino.  Archie only had success at one location.

This is spot on.  Foundation of what you do has to be successful.  See Cignetti as he was at different schools.  His process and foundation worked at every stop.  This is what IU basketball needs.
