No Otzelberger? He is my number 1

Is he your #1 with or without the possibility of him not wanting to leave Iowa State?  Seems like that would likely up his cost.

Personally, there are a number of candidates I would be okay with and that includes Stevens, May, Oltzenberger, Cronin, Beard, Drew, Oats, McDermott, Drew (in no particular order).  McCollum from a pure coaching standpoint but that's a risk from a recruiting standpoint.  But looking at those candidates I think there are some that are definitely more difficult to get than others.

Even that m*****f***** Will Wade I would accept with a turned up nose because he could win, particularly with the NIL we have.  Sorry, USPS.

Unless you’ve been living under a rock, Drew’s faith is a huge part of his life and he works for a Baptist school lol.

Direct quote to CBN: “Everything we do in the program is Christ-centered.”

I have no issue with people professing their faith, but I have serious doubts how he’d fit at a liberal institution or if he’d even be willing to go to one.

We are closer to that ark thing….

This thread is impossible to keep up with.  I have no clue who IU is targeting but I kind of hoped I could come here to find something tangible.  Instead, most of the posts are fantasies.

For what it’s worth no one actually seems to be in the know and I’m not sure those who know are talking. So it’s mostly hypotheticals.

The one thing that might really help in pursuit of McCasland, Otz, and Drew is the increasing financial chasm between the B1G, SEC, and everyone else. All 3 appear to be long shots for a variety of different reasons but if, e.g. Otz is on the podium at AH on 3/26 or whenever, I’ll bet the football TV contracts are a big part of why, whether he says so or not.

Got to crawl before you can walk. That’s where some disagree.   Some think IU can skip steps and be in a position to hire a coach that can automatically put them at the head of the table.   Some think it’s going to take a process and the first step is getting a coach to stabilize a middle of the pack mediocre or under (I think IU is 25-30 games under .500 in the B1G over the last 9 years) B1G team.   Maybe it’s good to hire a coach like Cronin first to stabilize and then worrying about games past the sweet 16 later

Yeah. Someone who has a process and the chops to stabilize the program. Then, he can’t be afraid to self evaluate each season and make tweaks to get better and move past the Sweet 16.  That is where a lot of coaches fail.

He is my number 1 coach regardless of buyouts, white whales etc.    he is number 1 on my big board.    If it’s me I pay whatever it takes to get him to Bloomington.

Forgot about McCasland.  Would put him on our list.....but might be pretty difficult to pull him out of Texas.

I listened to a Hoosier Hysterics pod with Shay Ciezki where she said our women's team is similar.  So I'd say it would be ok

May has proven this season that he wasn’t a flash in the pan at FAU.  If it’s not Stevens, I’d be thrilled with May.  He’s an elite coach on the rise.

While i agree i think he kinda got gifted unexpected pro in Wolf. He he has a McDonald’s all American coming next year, let him cook

If we as a fan base are treating Cronin like a non starter and ridiculous option I fear we have completely lost perspective. That guy is a winner. Not saying he’s my number one choice but the idea that hiring him would be some terrible mistake is just insane to me.

This 1000%. Can you imagine if IU had hired him 5yr ago and he took the Hoosiers to 3 Sweet 16's and a FF in that time? How awful!

Is he 1, 2 or even maybe 3? Probably not.

But he is a triple bouncing around the outfield that could end up an in the park HR.

Was it mentioned on here that Beard was pissed so made his players go to post-game to answer questions why they lost lol.  I like it

Consequences. Something our program has lacked since 1999.

Just offer Dusty May $10 million to stop coaching his team right now and come be the video coordinator at IU until Woodson retires (because we can't hurt his feelings). Then promote Dusty with his blockbuster contract. Of course the terms of the contract would be agreed upon and signed when he comes over as the highest paid video coordinator in history.

I would say that if he were to come to IU he wouldn't be looking to some other job for sentimental reasons because he would have left the place where he would have had that.  I just don't have any idea if he realistically would leave or just be able to use it for a big pay raise at Iowa State.

Once again, feel the love for Beard. He WILL NOT be considered and is not a candidate. Great for him. Go suck a case of light beer and beat another woman. Not here
