People said Brad Stevens was a done deal yesterday, Brad then told Goldman he wasn't a candidate late afternoon yesterday, and now no one knows what to think.

Also Brad wasn't going to sign until after all star weekend

The smart people do.  He’s not coming.

Dusty may just be that smart…he may have demanded the low buyout knowing that Woodson would be gone. He can either jump to IU if he wants to, or force Michigan to extend him after only one season for a lot more money! If he’s that smart we really have to try harder to get him!

He isn't dumb....he bet on himself and won big but even if he was dumb I am betting that his agent isn't either.

And exactly, he has all the leverage in the world now so he will get paid regardless of what Steven's allegedly told Goodman.

UM has so much money it’s not too hard for them to pony up to keep him — contract, staff $/program budget, and NIL are all going way up.  Not good.

Chris Beard was hired to coach Ole Miss for $3.25M / year, less than 3 months after being fired for cause from Texas due to his arrest for felony domestic violence. He's doing just fine without us on the "getting second chances" front.

Cool. Since he currently has a job... we can cross him off the list...

Schertz is McCollum…

+ a year at a tougher conference + three more years at D1 + modern offense.

So remind me again why Schertz isn’t the darling of the board instead of McCollum, besides that McCollum dresses better?

And remind me why a guy like Calhoun, Byington, or Gates isn’t markedly more qualified?

I generally want a younger guy so I prefer McCollum to Brownell, but McCollum is a Ray Harper style lotto ticket guy.

This isn't meant to discredit you. Just sharing my reaction.

I would just be very surprised if Scott Dolson told a bunch of AAU coaches on a call who he was hiring, or if he told an athlete board.

There's no way he's talking to people like that about the search. If he is, then it's an indicator that's he not really in charge of this, which I think we all agree he is.

Thank you. I find the insider reports here entertaining, even though I take them with a grain of salt. But "Dolson met with AAU coaches and told them he was hiring Stevens" might be the most outlandish report I've ever heard, and that's saying something.

The real question is how much are they willing to pony up compared to how much indiana is willing to pony up.

If ius contract is bigger not only in contract but also NIL, assistants, etc then nobody would blame him if he left Michigan after 1 year. Even if they did who cares? They don't pay his bills

So I went looking for the UNC hot board all I could find was for football .I did end up in a Redditt  page which was sort of like this page and they were debating on if HB  was gonna get another year because IU had to give MW another year ,then they were saying who they wanted ,most of them want Oates  and every once in awhile a poster would say  would you take a gently used Mike Woodson ,and then they would go back and forth on lots of different coaches and how top brass act like boy scouts and could not hire insert multiple names ,so they kind of sound like us .

Yea.  I’m worried they love what he’s doing and will want to keep him.

Their athletic dept revenue is about $250M vs our $150M (I’m adjusting out our loan), so they could pay him a lot and give him more program budget.  They have great football NIL, get the attention of a few donors and they could ramp up bball NIL.

It’s true the support for bball hasn’t always been there at UM, but if they want to, it could be.
