And you have to understand, that regardless of the results of a BTB poll, we are an incredibly small sample of the fanbase... and the reports of Beards um, transgressions are pretty widely known... I just don't see Dolson and the admin selling it... after all, Pam Whitten killed Pat Fitzgerald for the football job... and Beard doesn't pass the smell test, either, IMO.

The weird thing about this though...most YouTube videos I watch about the next IU hire always have Beard in the comments with very few, if any against him.  The forums are about the only places I see fans against Beard.  I bet he would have at least a 75% approval if every IU fan was asked about him.

There's no way he's talking to people like that about the search. If he is, then it's an indicator that's he not really in charge of this, which I think we all agree he is. 

I don’t know about the AAU call. This is a board of former IU athletes that Dolson had to meet with every other week to discuss hirings. Just like the woman’s soccer coach last week. He doesn’t need their approval but he does have to discuss the process with them. Do I believe he’s giving them specific information? No I don’t.

I doubt the fans are the reason Beard won't be hired but the AD and the President won't want to take the chance on him

The bias you’re most likely seeing is engagement. Average fans aren’t on message boards and likely have no idea about Beard’s history. Everybody here is much more clued into CBB and educated about it as a whole than people watching YouTube videos. Just my opinion.

What that would say is that Scott believes any competent professional CBB coach can win with Indiana resources. I agree with that, but that’s not where you start. That’s where you end up.You start with the best guy you can get and in no universe is Brownell the best guy you can get. He’s not one of the 10 best. What he is is the simplest guy you can get.

Appreciate the context. 

Dolson having to meet with an athlete board and actually give them insight into the hiring process is a glaring example of the incompetence of IU basketball the last 25 years. 

What an utter waste of Scott Dolson's time right now.

I think the name was thrown out a few 100 pages ago. But what about Shaka Smart? Hard to find much on salary with private school but I think I saw it was around $3 million. I know he wasn’t great at Texas but he’s done well at Marquette and he’s still just 47.
