General Coach Candidate News

Anyway, back to Goodman. I didn't even know that the nation was all but certain about Brad too there for a few hours. So what was going on outside this boars that Sfevens needed to get out in front and make declaration?? I like Brad and all, but he think that much of himself he just up out of nowhere says, "I'm not a candidate"  like seems odd to do it, like ever.

Our boards have been buzzing about Stevens for the past week. The buzzing has gotten louder each day, and it was only a matter of time before someone in the media noticed. Goodman reached out to Stevens, got the expected canned response, and everyone lost their minds.

“I thoroughly appreciate being a Celtic and love the people I get to work with every day,” Stevens told Goodman.

""But that stuff's crazy. I mean, I love being at Michigan. I love our team. We're fighting like crazy ...:" Dusty May

Right now, I do not believe because I do not want to be disappointed, but the quotes are basically the same - and if I recall correctly, Goodman has significant anti-IU bias and we only helped confirm his bias by not making a good hire last time.

Nothing wrong in believing in fairy tales.

Don’t act surprised when you’re still at the kids table.

And did you even read THAT post? I've never bought into Stevens. It was always slim at best, like I said. I'm not sure that's believing in fairy tales, but I do believe there are perpetually sour people. You're so damn focused on fighting with people you make things more difficult than they need to be. Like you said earlier: "I root for IU. Don't overthink this."

WE root for IU. All of us. There are different paths to success and different views on how we're going to get there. Don't overcomplicate this. However this hire turns out it's going to land us in a better position than the one we're currently dealing with. People are free to speculate however they wish until we have our answer.

There’s posters who have actively rooted for IU to lose. Multiple. Lots. Many.

Just stop.

My wishful thinking scenario is Stevens is actually punking Goodman knowing he'd be chomping at the bit to put that statement out to IU fans. He worded it vaguely and when he takes the job he can just say he wasn't a candidate at that particular time, then Indiana came calling afterward. Then we swarm Goodman relentlessly until he finds a different profession and fades away into obscurity.

But in reality a duck is usually a duck and its very possible Option 1 is no longer an option. Time will tell.

You were a strong-willed child I have no doubt.

Always up for conflict and often missing the point.

I wasn't talking about fandom. I was talking about leaving people alone. But again, you're hellbent on conflict and still missing the point (or manipulating it as best you can) so I'll hand you back your own words again.

"Just stop."

Can someone reshare how to block someone? I’ve never needed it until now. I’ve weeded out insufferable people in my real life. Certainly don’t need to put up with them on a message board.

If you click on your username in the top right it will give you a drop down with an option for 'blocked users'. Go there and enter any handles you want to block.

So 711, Isaac, and now Crone, all new guys to the forum are saying Brad Stevens done deal basically. Are we that dumb to believe this?  If Chris or Jerry speak in absolutes, I’ll feel better, but this screams trolls.

For what it's worth Isaac has been here almost a year and Crone since 2016.

People *constantly* profess to have insider information and mislead literally hundreds or thousands of people for either kicks (Isaac) or to score weird internet cred (Chris), and *I’m* the bad guy for pointing it out??

And they do it time after time and year after year. Yet people still beg for them to lie to everyone again.

IsaacTor is new to the board, but Chris, Jerrry, and ap have provided good enough before and enough times that people listen when they share. That doesn't mean they're always right or that their info is on anyway infallible. Whether you choose to believe them is up to you.

I get why people would get excited about the thought of landing Stevens, and let's face it it's not surprising his name would come in when Indiana needs a coach he's as big of a white  whale as it gets for us. I've repeatedly said in this thread it won't happen and that I'd believe it when I saw it.

I'm not a big tinfoil hat guy, the simple answer is many times the right one. However that statement Goodman put out from Stevens is a very very weak denial and unless he left parts out doesn't say not a candidate. IF if it happened, a whale sized if, then it wouldn't be the first time a coach said something like that and then left shortly after; remember Caliapri said Memphis is where he wanted to be then left to UK, Saban point blank said he won't be the coach at Alabama, etc.

The Caliapri and Saban references are perfect for this. It always happens in these coaching searches. Don’t take anyone at face value and what they say to media members, especially when they are currently employed.

Because they know nothing about sports and the hiring process to know this is always what happens.

First wife married young, had kids, stayed in it too long. Such is life.

Couldn’t be happier with my wife now.

One day you’ll touch grass and understand.

While I agree that taking personal shots at someone's married life should be out of bounds, telling someone to touch grass through a message board post after midnight is about as lame of a comeback as one could make.

He is barely over 50% in conference wins.

If you are talking about just his experience in power 5, he is 73-63.  Take away his first season in power 5 (at a time when coaches did have to establish their system since there wasn't NIL) and he's 67-51.

Outside of 18 games, his power 5 record has been at Texas Tech and Ole Miss.  Those kind of winning percentages are pretty damn good at those schools.
