Because his last name isn’t Stevens. In all seriousness, Brownell has done a good job at Clemson but this next hire needs to be a home run, or at least a triple. Brownell would be a bunt single.

If you get McDermott you are going to have a top 15 offense. That coach runs some good stuff and his offense is awesome to watch.   He has coached in a conference and competed with teams that have actually won National Titles and held his own during the conference season.   Has had some good defensive teams over the years.   Made an elite 8.  Has shown the ability to lose top players to the transfer portal and just plug in guys and not miss a beat.    Currently second in the Big East with a chance to be tied for first with a game at ST Johns.    Turned down Ohio St 4 years ago before Holtmann took the job.    Beat out Archie Miller for Mason Miller.  That last doesn’t really mean anything I just added it in.     He will be losing Ryan K after this year so the time might be now to move on.   He is a college basketball coach that can run a program and honestly that’s all IU needs is a guy that can run a college basketball program

He's not somebody I can see winning here with any consistency. 

Will always the respect him for just openly lobbying for the job when Crean got it. He knew the Wright State HC was never getting an elite gig and he saw a chance to cut in line on the job no one wanted to touch. But, yeah, he might be actually the replacement-level high major HC. 1 thing for sure, if Scott’s introducing Brownell he certainly didn’t get his Guy. Or several other guys.

Certainly would not be a big splash hire.  Has had a couple of decent back-to-back years at Clemson now but should not be anywhere the top of our wish list.

He should be on the C list. His overall career at Clemson is crean like at best. That would be a real buzz kill hire.

I don't want a situation where it's Stevens Plan A and there is nobody else...kinda thinking that's what happened in 2021. I think it's great to cast a pretty big net.

Four years ago, Dolson hired Matta. QB hired Woodson and overruled him.   With QB finally out of the picture, Dolson is doing his job.

That’s the one thing I’m absolutely not worried about. Dolson would have known 11 months ago that where we are now was well within range of outcomes. I can’t imagine he hasn’t spent that time profiling what they want, researching at least some obvious candidates and developing a hiring process that he could just flip a switch on. Anyone he would presumably  have interest in other than Stevens has at least 6 more weeks of their season left. So, if it’s not Stevens, and count me in the I’ll believe it when he’s at a presser in AH and not before camp, this is gonna go on for probably 8 weeks, minimum.
