I don't really want him either but I don't take upon myself to morally judge others. So I just call out hypocrisy when I see. There is no way some of those who claim beard is the worst thing since the devil refused to support iu when knight was the coach. I bet they watched every game under knight. Throws chairs. Assauting cops. No big deal I guess. 

 

 University basketball coach Bobby Knight was charged with assaulting a police officer in Puerto Rico during the Pan American Games. He was tried in absentia and sentenced to six months in jail and a $500 fine.

I feel like Cronin's agent is a huge IU fan and likes to post on this board. I have never heard more pumping up of a more mediocre candidate than Cronin....while also being so dismissive of every other candidate as bring "unrealistic". The only people that know if a coach is realistic or not is their respective agents and families.

Cronin and Buzz Williams are top of the WTF hires to me. They will win enough not to get fired but not take us where we want to be. Those hires are for schools that want to win some in Basketball but not really compete for anything. If you can't get Stevens, May, or we aren't touching Beard, I would rather go for an up and comer like McCollum. At least there may be a higher ceiling.

After @Uspshoosier post, I went back and looked at Cronin's coaching history.  While I would not put him at the top of my list, I certainly came back more impressed than I initially was.  He was one I did actually put a yes on, even though he was a tepid one.

I put this on the Poll thread on Beard, and would he actually go to the lengths he would have to go to get the job?  On the flip side, would IU want to monitor what he does or acts in his off to actually keep the job?  

Beard, I put Neutral because I think he would do great in Bloomington, but he would really have to go to AA or something to stay off the booze.  He would also have to do some charity work for battered wives or something to show that he is truly regretful of his past mistakes and the like.  He would just have to prove that those incidents are behind him, and can he truly do it?

Someone already posted these numbers but now is a good chance to do so again: At a P4 schools, he's won 67.5% (179-86) overall but only 53.7% (73-63) in conference in 7 whole seasons and 2 partial seasons.

Of his complete seasons: Only 1 time did he finish with less than 7 losses in conference. Only once did he finish with single digit losses. 

It's just not as impressive of a resume as some make it seem. They look at only those 2 really good seasons at TT which he hasn't come close to replicating.

Some people will really be falling off big time if he turns us down again. Might want to keep your feet on the ground when you reach for those stars so you don't get hurt if you fall.
