The only thing I'm confident or certain about is Scott Dolson's ability to conduct a leak-free search.  It's been an absolute master class.

Here we are, likely on the verge of announcing who it will be and the media and message boards are still throwing around names like Santa at the Christmas parade.

This is just my thought on the transfer portal and IU not based on anything else. If we see guys not flooding the portal I think it has zero to do with waiting to see who the coach is. No reason to believe that in this era. 

The reality is the coaching was bad and no one here increased their earning potential beyond what they currently make. Reneau could probably get similar money for his scoring, but Bako, Rice and Carlysle are almost certainly not going to make more on the open market than they have already contracted at IU. 

Maybe they can enter the portal and return without impacting previously held agreements, but that seems super unlikely to me given the new coach may not even want the player to return and teams are not obligated to allow a player to come back.

Exactly I think Malik is the biggest one to watch on this, yes maybe IU can pay a bit more but right now if there was uncertainty this kids last year of college is coming up he ain't sticking around for just any ole coach. Or at least is gonna put his name in the portal and see who comes a calling. 

The Tucker thing is also interesting if its been well known he's got a foot out the door since Dec why wouldn't he put his name in the portal and the family is on the wait and see mode. Dad's clearly on social media you think he was gonna stick around if Ben McCollum was the hire? 

If we make it through today with no guys in the portal than IMO that's something BIG
