He has proven himself as a mid major coach these past two years IMO. His LaLu connection + any recruiting ties he’s developed in the North Carolina / DMV area would be cool here. I’d be very happy with him as the hire. The LaLu piece is interesting when compared to McCollum. Huss would know seriously high level recruiting intimately. Although I think the “all the other stuff” arguments are way overblown. Ultimately it’s about coaching and winning basketball games. The other stuff is secondary to that imo and will work itself out no matter who gets hired. Home Jersey 1

D2 to Indiana is a monumental leap in basically 1 year. Needs to have a great staff around him for this transition. Coach McCollum: At Assembly Hall the FT lines are 15 ft from the basket and the rims are 10 ft high. I think you'll find that's the exact same measurements as your gym back at Des Moines. The main thing is still the main thing. And by all accounts he has peers who have been at this level and can help him navigate something if he is struggling at a particular aspect of off court stuff. When McCasland is giving him a ton of credit for changing the direction of his UNT program, that says something. go iu bb and OKHOOSIER 2

Reminder: The football Hot Board moved Cignetti down 2 tiers, and then promptly 2 days later... he was hired. I'm not buying Brownell at all. McCollum, I could at least see the vision behind, but it is a big risk. jimsorgi, taco corp, Hoosierfanyuh and 13 others 16

My completely uninformed guess is we made an offer, he said no within a week or less and we’ve been working others since. It’s been fun though to get through the work day imagining it’s Stevens lol. Hes coached 2 games at High Point...not trying to be an @$$, just wondering what I am missing with him. Former LaLumiere coach. Assistant coach for McDermott several years. Already going to the tournament. Think that sums it up.

I'm not buying Brownell at all. McCollum, I could at least see the vision behind, but it is a big risk. This is true and what gives me a little hope. I keep circling back to where this whole thing started. Certainly Woodson still have his friends in the highest of places within the University and donors. Scott has made it clear going back to last year he was ready to move on, I know he's got the Cig hire in this back pocket BUT I just don't see how he's able to sell pushing out a program legend to hire McCollum or Brownell? or Scott being willing to take THAT big of risk Again I think any candidate that gets hired is gonna get 2 years MAX to show they can raise the floor of the program above what Woodson has (most likely 3 tourney in 4 years) there will be no honeymoon period. If your not winning 20 + games per year by year 2 people are gonna not only come for coach X but Scott as well. Worried even in NIL and Transfer portal era we could revert back to post Sampson era basketball if this doesn't work
