There's also a metric ****-ton of plausible deniability if any of those three actually got hired. It's a zero risk assumption, he doesn't look like an idiot for that if he ends up incorrect. It is simply "I am as shocked as everyone else across the landscape that IU landed X,Y, or Z" because it would be massive earth shaking news in CBB, and across the NBA too if it was BS. He can just fall in with all the other media types who all thought none of those were ever realistic. 

I am in no way saying I think any of that actually happens, but this is not some crazy sourced leak of information saying BS, SD and TJO are out lol

Still can't get caught up but it appears there are some drama queens posting today. I see we should just get rid of the basketball program or this search is a complete failure. I don't understand why anyone would be surprised that those coaches mentioned would not be interested in the job. Our fans need to just look at the past hiring cycles and realize you don't see many power conference coaches leaving for another job. The ones who will leave are guys like Beard or Brownell who are at lower tier power conference teams.

Going through Drake stats last year though, 5 of their top 6 guys in minutes did transfer out. Not the same exact DeVries entire roster that made the NCAA tournament last year. Definitely have to consider the spotlight at IU would be drastically different than Drake, but it's not like he's just Bruce Weber taking advantage of a Bill Self built Illinois team.

Yep.  Anybody making absolute declarations in either direction of it happening or not is personal bias.  Nothing has moved forward.  It’s not that deep yet.  But I think people can see today the level of coach we are probably at.  Unless Dolson has a shocker up his sleeve of Donovan, Wright, Few, etc., I think we are working at a level lower than the TJO, Cronin, or McDermott’s of the world.  Beard would be in that level.  Hopefully money talks after a disappointing exit for the TJO, Cronin, or McDermott level.  I have legit no clue which way we go, but I trust Dolson in this process more than previous AD.  Even if the name isn’t the sexy name.

I don't see what he is saying as that bad. He is saying iu should just hire beard at this point. Then says he don't think they will. That's his opinion and probably spot on. I admire the ones who say relax were going to get a great coach. No we are probably going to hire a safe crappie coach

With how it appears the coaching search is unraveling out of control, you would think Chris, RTZ, Jerry, etc...would chime in one way or another with what they've mostly recently have heard...but we're not getting that...why?...I think it's because this search is going how Scott Dolson wants it to...

I think 15-25 years ago we definitely hire from the McDermott or TJO level of college basketball.  I just don’t think we win enough and coaches see how impatient the fanbase and University will be.  Not an easy job when you know a 180 on culture will have to occur without the benefit of patience.  Now we are probably at a lower tier of hire with the same requirements.  More money for sure.  At some point we just have to win.  I do like some of the other unnecessary barriers are seemingly not in place this hire.  I have hope.  No expectations.

2) His info today is extremely informative. Because the process of elimination is valuable!

Ok. So let’s get a synopsis of today: Goodman says that we’re out of the running for our top guys and then says we should hire Beard if we want to win but would be surprised if that happened. Rabjohns confirms Beard is getting vetted and that Brownell is definitely a candidate. I just think all this conjecture is proving Dolson is keeping it close to the vest…which is very true. Nobody really knows what’s going on but a select few. Time will tell.
