He is a good athlete. #2 — as a freshman and sophomore in high school — playing against much older players-/ he took a decent number of threes (near 200 I believe) and shot 37%. The shot is fixable. As far as #2 goes, I've wondered and asked about that but never really got an answer. In both his junior and senior seasons he injured his wrist. I wondered if that negatively affected his shot and it just hasn't been fixed yet or if he was always a bad shooter. From what you said, it sounds like the former instead of the latter. In that case, I really want him to stay. Even more than I already did. He has a really good motor, has great hustle and does a lot of small things that don't show up in the stat sheet, can drive and get to the rim, and has a great understanding of the game. If his shot can be fixed and his defense improved, he could be a very good player for IU. Dave from Dayton 1 Quote

Just my own thoughts but RP, JH, JG seem like the guys that may get slapped in the face with the reality of PT loss and/or currently unrecognized need for a big increase in intensity and focus. Quote

DWB Posted April 23, 2021 Posted April 23, 2021 I'm having a hard time thinking we will "make room" for K Brooks. The kid was a reserve last year on a less than marginal KY squad. He only shoots 21% from 3. I think Galloway shot better than that, or at least close to it. And I'd much rather have Galloway's hustle, BBall IQ, and passion for IU than Brooks. (which if I remember correctly was 0 when he chose KY) I just don't see it. My 2¢. Hardwood83 and Str8Hoosiers 2 Quote

Uspshoosier Posted April 23, 2021 Posted April 23, 2021 Akinjo to Baylor. It will be interesting if he is immediately eligible. He got a waiver last year to play right away so does he get to do it again or will he have to sit out. WayneFleekHoosier 1 Quote

woodenshoemanHoosierfan Posted April 23, 2021 Posted April 23, 2021 Even if someone would leave the perception will be that they were pushed out to make room for Brooks. Yes, the optics would be bad. As I said earlier, if I remember correctly, some of the same people who are advocating creaning someone for Brooks, were the sane ones complaining about the perception of it happening under Crean and other coaches using that perception to tell recruits "it could happen to you if you go to IU". It boggles the mind. Sent from my SM-G975U using Tapatalk T White 1 Quote
Hoosier987 Posted April 23, 2021 Posted April 23, 2021 Let me first point out that I’m pretty sure every player on this current roster is eligible next season and please don’t assume at this point what a player or players may do about the NBA...regardless we won’t have a 0 man class next year which means decisions will be made. To win a national championship and be a consistently great team tough decisions need to be made...even if that means making room for a better player...and I’m not even necessarily talking about Brooks. What happens if we’re in on a couple really good ‘22 prospects that want to play for CMW and IU? Are we going to say...”sorry, you’re a great player and would be a better option but we don’t want to hurt any feelings, we don’t have enough room for you and we’re worried that a few bloggers may think our optics will look bad to others.” That’s ridiculous and the answer to that question is a resounding NO. CMW will do what’s best for this team and choose players who he thinks give this team the best chance to bring us back to the Final Four. Bobman1, Hoosierfanyuh, Deserthoozier and 2 others 5 Quote

Plus, things are different now with the portal than when Crean was here. It’s like NBA free agency only every player is on a one year contract. Alford Bailey, go iu bb and jk34 3 Quote
RaceToTheTop Posted April 23, 2021 Posted April 23, 2021 IF Brooks is truly going into the portal and coming to IU, I could see a reason why he would not be doing so right away. Still has the semester to finish out at Kentucky......kind of a tough situation to be at UK while finishing up and having people know he's transferring to IU.
