We praised Archie for saying “Inside Out” at his press conference and come next year I believe there will be 9 players from the state of Indiana. Add an assistant coach that all he wants to do is be at IU and will give you 110% 24/7 for our program. I’m down

I have a feeling that Indiana is about to start being Indiana again. Have the Indiana kids, things seem to be headed in the right direction or it’s the beer talking 

We are going to find out. Indiana kids are nice and all, and it’s a feel good situation right now in some ways but I guess we find out if the Indiana boys are superior to some of the uber talented teams.

It would be a cool way to win. Hope it works out.

I do know Romeo changed Archie’s mind on recruiting. That’s why you see Leal & Galloway. If you can get a great player fine but take good players and coach them up. Add a Lander and you’re good.

And IUBB putting together a culture of top 125 ranked in-state kids, with a quickly evolving top tier defense and the hire of an assistant who was a three time all academic B1G, played for Knight for five years at IU, displayed enough leadership to be named team captain while averaging 4mpg, and comes from the first assistant slot at an annual 20+ win program ...

Flint was always a questionable choice. But when you have that much experience at the D1 level, it’s basically a given that you will get a nice job. 

 

We have to remember Archie is young. His assistants won’t be the best assistant Justin because it’s Indiana, the best assistants are at the Dukes, MSU, etc. Coaching staffs are built off relationships and trust. Archie saw this staff and people he can rely on daily and so far it’s proven to be.. okay. 

Our on the court issues will hopefully be resolved once Archie can get all his guys in here. I think next season (2020-2021)will be our year of better on court production.

And everyone’s also tired of your ridiculous negativity. Big difference in your negativity vs others. Josh is a great poster and even better all around since he’s also a STL Cardinal, but him and I have different views on Archie, but he certainly doesn’t get annoying. He backs up his statement with credible posts!

Is Mike Roberts an ideal candidate, who knows, but people need to get off this high horse of it needing to be an IU stud that was an NBA all-star as the new assistant.

He’s an IU guy that by all accounts is an incredible person and good developer of talent. I believe that’s what we’ve all been wanting, right!?!?! Love the double standard some of these IU fans have.

I get winning cures all, but geez, some of you will never be satisfied. We could get Coach K for 10 years that would bring us a national title, and people would find some way to be completely negative.

(Not bashing the people who aren’t thrilled at it possibly being McRoberts, but just at the select few who are in a constant pity party of misery)

I don't know any of the guys being discussed beyond what is/has been said here and other places. CAM is really the only one who has real "skin" in this game and I'm sure he has put in some time and effort to get this right. Whoever his choice turns out to be will be fine with me.

I think Romeo was a must get, but I do feel Archie entered into a bad recruiting time. He needed to get his guys first, then incorporate some of the Romeo’s of the world. With how Archie coaches, having a foundation first seems crucial.

C'mon folks, lighten up. It's an assistant, for crying out loud. Unlike the obvious candidates for a head coaching job, I'm not sure any of us knows who will make a good assistant and who won't. Let him get back on campus and let's see what he can do. Archie took a damn long time to make this hire, so I'm gonna give him the benefit of the doubt that he got it right. 

As far as recruiting, if a 6-9, 250-pound guy comes into your house and tells you to come to IU, I think you'd better listen!!!

Exactly. I can’t imagine being upset about this? Do the people that are upset know a single thing about Mike Roberts the coach, any recruiting ties he may or may not have, or really anything about his coaching prowess. Is he good at advanced scouting, implementing game plans, developing players?

I was writing a much longer and angrier post with this same theme, but you got there quicker and more succinctly. Perfect response. And the criticism that CAM might be hiring a, gasp, mid-major coach just aggravates me to death. Some of the very best coaches in the game are mid-major coaches. If I had to argue who the best game coach in CBB is, I would probably say Randy Bennett or Bob McKillop. If I had to argue who the best game coach I’ve ever seen is, it would absolutely be John Kresse. Just because a guy hasn’t sat next to K or  Beilein doesn’t mean he hasn’t learned from a great coach and wouldn’t be a huge get.
