Jeff Flabjohns Posted November 1, 2023 Posted November 1, 2023 A couple “this day just got even worse” posts in here have me combing the board for bad news I missed. An injury? DQ commitment elsewhere? IU - Kaulie and WayneFleekHoosier 1 1 Quote

AZ Hoosier Posted November 1, 2023 Posted November 1, 2023 Not sure how many remember, but Bob Knight almost never made it to Indiana. He was all but signed, sealed and delivered to Wisconsin in 1968. He accepted the job offer while in Madison with the stipulation that no one at Wisconsin announced the hire before Knight could get back to West Point to inform his boss and team. Someone at Wisconsin leaked the information, and Knight told them to pound sand. He stayed at Army for three more seasons before moving to Indiana. Popular Post LamarCheeks Posted November 1, 2023 Popular Post Posted November 1, 2023 Knew this was coming -- just didn't know when. RIP to an Indiana legend. I actually covered the team for a season at the Daily Student a long, long time ago. He yelled at me the first time I asked a question. I think that was just his way of "intimidating" me and keeping me on my toes. Later, during the NCAA tournament -- there was a room full of dozens of reporters for media sessions. You had to raise your hand and wait for a person with a mike to come to you. I was sitting up front in the middle after one of the games, so it wasn't easy to get to me. I kept raising my hand, but to no avail. Finally, Bob saw me, recognized me as someone who'd been with the team all season, and said -- "Hey, let's get to this guy down here. He's had his hand up for quite a while." Thanks, Coach -- for that and creating so many IU basketball memories over the years. J34, reconmkd, upperarlington and 20 others 21 2 Quote

mamasa Posted November 1, 2023 Posted November 1, 2023 I had the pleasure and/or uncomfortableness of knowing Coach in my younger years. Absolutely dedicated to teaching, one of a kind. He will be greatly missed, and his legacy will be cemented as one of the absolute best coaching coaches in history Quote

Dave from Dayton Posted November 1, 2023 Posted November 1, 2023 The key is not the 'will to win'...everybody has that. It is the will to prepare to win that is important. Mental toughness is to physical as four is to one ALASKA HOOSIER, str8baller, MikeRoberts and 2 others 4 1 Quote
