I think we got less wins cumulatively in my time on campus than we had last year. I was always hoping for four cupcake non conf wins and two B1G for a bowl invite. If you would have told me we had seasons in a row where we expected to be preseason top 25, I’d have sworn we had the second coming of Knute Rockne on our sidelines. cthomas 1 Quote

8bucks Posted August 6 Posted August 6 I love that we continue to get the lack of respect as I think our staff absolutely excels in that underdog role. Come on, piss off our team. Come on. BGVille Hoosierfan, Pagoda, cthomas and 2 others 5 Quote

Your post made me look up my undergrad years and I was surprised to see that Lee Corso won 19 (8 were in one season) while I was there. I looked at the seasons a little more carefully and the out of conference games would be considered absolutely nuts these days. Examples: @Nebraska, Utah, @NC State LSU, Miami of Ohio, @ Nebraska (what was the AD thinking ?) 1978 - @LSU (#13), Washington (#15, we beat them!), Nebraska (#12, we held them to 69). THREE games against top 15 teams prior to the conference games starting !!! str8baller 1 Quote

It's a great recruiting sell and Corso was "turning the corner" by 1976. It was his 4th season with his recruits on the field and it looks like it might have worked because the following year in 79 we got 8 wins! Quote

I completely see how programs like Alabama, Ohio State, etc. get mad when they don’t win 11+ games and compete for national championships. Anything less than playoff appearances every year will be disappointing to me as I’ve gotten greedy. I don’t feel too bad having that expectation, though, because I know Coach Cig and everyone else in the organization feel the exact same way. Home Jersey and Soulsnipes 2 Quote
JSHoosier Posted August 6 Posted August 6 The dline is so stacked and the depth is crazy. Wyatt, Daley, Obiazor, Osunsanmi, Ndukwe, Burnham; there's going to be some competition in that room. Quote
