Regarding new TRO granting blanket exemption for class of 2022 the following Hoosiers are eligible (to my understanding) to return for this season: 

Holden Staes - TE

Jonathon Brady - WR

Kellan Wyatt - DE

Stephen Daley - DE

How many roster spots do we have. I know we opened one up earlier in the week

I don't think any. Iosua Stephens joined the team about 6 weeks ago and I think he is scholarship although that might be incorrect. I believe that has us at 85.

I'm looking at going to a road game this year, how to i make sure to get seats with other Hoosiers?  Isn't there usually a block inside a stadium for opposing fans?

Tristan Abrams left the team in late June or early July, although he just publicly announced it. They were at 85 before he left. If Stephens is a scholarship player, and he may not be, then they are back at 85.

I thought the same thing. I realized that I could solve the problem by going to the road game that will be a quasi-home game at Rutgers. Staying in New York City in October, which is epic, and that stadium is gonna be at least 50% IU fans. And the tickets were really good for a really good price.

It’s a 105 roster limit based on what you can afford between scholarships and walk-ons now. Jamie Jordan has us at 104 after the Abram transfer, but with how fluid walk-ons can be over the summer that number could be a little off.

If we have a spot, it seems like Staes would be a great fit.

Yes, I understand the walkons and 105 roster limiy, but I'm guessing none of those players are coming back as walkons. So it was trying to figure out if there was a scholarship available. Looks like there is 1.

My priority list would go:

Staes

Wyatt

Daley 

Staes for need, Wyatt is likely the less injured of the two edges and that room is a load even without those two guys.

It’s not a scholly for scholly trade though. Even if 2 walk-ons leave, we’d have 3 spots.

Not sure where you're at there. If any of the above mentioned players were to return, I would think it would be as scholarship players. Therefore there has to be scholarship open. That has to do with the 85 scholarship limit, not the full roster limit. Doesn't matter if we have 3 walkon spots if the guy isn't a walkon candidate, and I would assume neither Daley, Staes or Wyatt is.

The 85 scholarship limit doesn’t exist anymore. It’s 105 roster spots whether you’re on scholarship or a walk-on.

What I find interesting about that is that I am on college football forums daily (often hourly), watch any number of podcasts on college football in a week, and read all kinds of articles on college football, and completely missed that they had changed that. I don't know how that was possible.

It happened alongside the house settlement which included the rev share deal so I think it kind of flew under the radar with so much happening all at once. 

And honestly outside of weird circumstances like this injunction, I don’t know how much it really changed roster building for most programs.

Something we have already discussed above. I believe Brady was our PR/KR guy last year. Don’t know his replacement but would be a solidifying addition. 
 

Roster Need Assessment: 

1. Staes

2. Wyatt/Daley

3. Brady
