I don’t think Staes comes back.  My only logic is that would be eight scholly TEs… seems kinda nuts.  I get he adds some veteran experience to that room, but that’s  probably too many.

There’s a decent chance that Curt Cignetti was the greatest hire in sports history. If we go 16-0 again and repeat there’s no debate. 
 

We better be ready to pony up as much as possible to keep these coordinators as well.  Special teams as well

So just for fun let's just go out on the limb and speculate that we would go 16-0 again this year or 32-0 over 2 seasons.  The last IU team to go 32-0?   Yup, our '75-'76 basketball team.

Ha, I think we’re gonna lose some game(s).  Undefeated is so incredibly hard, which is what made ‘25 the most accomplished season ever by a team.

If we can make the playoffs and avoid a first round road game… that would be amazing.

Man, what a different outlook we have now days.  LOL.

Went from make a bowl game to make sure we don't play a road game in the playoffs and potentially go un-deafted again.  Life is good.

The reports continue to glow. And he probably has some level of presumption at this point given that the guy he’d beat out has a 14mil base salary and would certainly be waived.

He played most of his senior season at IU with a completely chewed up ankle. Tried to gut it out but by the playoffs he was cooked.

Out of curiosity I took a look at the 2025 pre-season coaches poll and saw that the top 4 teams were:

1) Texas

2) Penn State

3) Ohio State

4) Clemson

20) Indiana

SO…….3/4 of the top four teams didn’t even make the playoff which very clearly illustrates “everything is earned,  nothing is given”.

Also, fwiw we were first ranked 2nd starting in week 8 (mid-Oct) and held that spot until earning the number 1 spot after beating OSU.

“The name” does impact thought processes.  I’m old enough to remember when Nebraska was an absolute powerhouse so I still slightly cringe when some think going to Lincoln will be a walk in the park.  Ruhle, as an example, hasn’t beaten any good teams but with 85k fans behind them it’s probably going to happen at some point….hopefully not against us.

Yes, I’m that age as well. But I was at the game a couple years ago in Bloomington when Dylan Raiola spent most of pre-game warm-ups running his mouth to our student section presumably about he was going to show them who had the better football program. And then he certainly went out and did just that.
