  1. Just got done watching it and he may have been pissed in real time but I imagine the staff will enjoy using this one to really, really drive some points home to a couple of guys, hello Aidan and Darren, about just getting straight up outworked and Markus and Jaeden on some really dicey decision making. I thought that was a really good exhibition for these kids to have to find their way through. Haven’t read the thread, though I’m sure the big rocks have been well covered, but 2 things that struck me in real time: 1) Not sure how DDV’s gonna do it but a point’s gonna arrive not far out from now at all when Moody will just force DDV to find him minutes. Best on ball defender they have. Brings a level of energy and intensity that no one else does and is utterly fearless. He may get a little wild and crazy occasionally but you do not want to discourage that kid in any way. 2) WKU is pretty good. Size with depth. Defends like crazy on the perimeter. A couple of kids who can make open looks and a legit go to scorer. Imagine they’ll do a pretty good number on the Sun Belt and they look like 1 of those teams that gets about a 10 seed, knocks off a 7 and then gives some 2 seed all they want.

  2. Our starting guards Burton and Harris were a combined 1-16 FG, 0-7 3pt, 5-9 FT, 2 assists, 2 turnovers. Ick. Our two ‘backup’ guards, Bryce and Prince, were a combined 8-16 FG, 6-13 3pt, 4-6 FT, 5 assists, 2 turnovers.

    2026 IUFB: CHAPTER 3

IU football has been ranked in the top 25 for 39 consecutive weeks, and ranked in the top ten for 21 consecutive weeks. Still hard to believe

  5. You hear everyone associated with IUFB repeat the “Do your job” mantra. As Cig said today, many times a player tries to make a big play and therein doesn’t do their job. This is the video of the biggest defensive play of the Michigan game. Tobi has responsibility for the QB but it’s a third and one very likely running down and the play starts with a strong play fake to the running back. Tobi does his job. IU wins. Btw: watch the Michigan tight end break ten yards open on this one. If Carr has any time at all it’s a touchdown.

  6. Against WKU: starters: 92 minutes, 5 of 25 from the field, 1 of 10 from three, 22 points. bench: 108 minutes, 18 of 32 from the field, 9 of 21 from three, 57 points.

  7. In the postgame he said he wanted to get the freshman minutes, but he was quite unhappy with the effort from our main guys. There was a message in there imo.

  8. I like Gus. His voice has an “big game” tone to it, he isn’t painfully bland like so many of the announcers and he loves IU. Loved his call when Cooper caught the ball vs PSU, even though he had no voice left. LOL Also, he still calls the Hall the “Carnegie Hall of basketball” even though we have sucked for most of the past 30 years.

  9. He might want to do a little dive into DDV’s background. Soft is the last thing that comes to mind. So much drivel in these mediums

  10. Just watched the game. Burton needs to be pass first and 2nd unless a layup. What does Harris add if he cannot knock down 3’s; start Lindsay. Why doesnt Mustaf do any slashing? Big man too raw for our level of play we want to get-no hook, offensive moves. What did this team cost us in NIL? Team plays like their coach- soft and disinterested. We will be lucky top half Big Ten.

  11. Three down, four more to go. Hoover's injury is concerning. A gritty game up in Ann Arbor but that's not sustainable. And finally... The major difference this year over the last two for the IUFB offense is not involving the TE more. Against UM, one target to the TE that turned out to be a huge catch. They've got to figure out a way to start targeting that position more.

  12. Prince hit a really nice 3 off the dribble and Manhertz seems very comfortable with catch and shoot 3s. Karvala is so athletic. Really really like our freshmen.

  13. I don’t think they trust Hoover throwing over the middle…worried those off-target throws will be picked. Rourke was a master of those slant routes. Made them look easy. Mendoza obviously could do it all.

  14. I think of the three teams IU played, WKU was the best team honestly. At least they played the best game of the three opponents and it wasn't even close. They are well rounded team who played hard.

  15. Personally, I don't even think he needs to figure out too much. His D is solid. If UM's D plays decent and Sayin isn't playing, O$U will be heavily challenged. I also think this weekend against SC will let all of us know about the QB situation. While Fahey is traveling back home he's still a freshman and getting Smith touches should be fun to see how SC tries to prevent that from happening. UCLA will have to deal the with traveling to Minny next week before they travel to UM in late November.

  16. We need to root for Carr to really figure things out and just dominate UCLA and OSU.

  17. Lyndsay looks like a starter to me. He's been the best player on the floor in these scrimmages and certainly passes the eye test.

  18. Manhertz is the one who got the tech. I've noticed he has an edge to him and I really like it. Whenever there's some potential beef with the other team he seems like he is always in the middle of it, lol. He looks like the first freshman off the bench after 3 scrimmages, but will see if that carries over to the regular season. Sam, Yig and Sherrell are really gonna need to be relied on during the shooting droughts. Hope to see Sherrell get more involved with the offense outside of shooting 3s and getting putbacks. Lindsay and Prince are going to be tough to keep off the floor. Need Burton to stay healthy and composed.

  19. Thank goodness for Sam Alexis. I think it’s going to be hard to keep him off the court. Him and Yigi had a solid high low game going. But Sam Alexis will be playing 24-26 minutes a game because he brings hustle and grit

  20. Yeah he had some issues then he got roughed up against Nebraska. Wonder if that injury caused the issues.

  22. So was DDV sending a message or trying to get the freshmen minutes? Regardless, we have one hell of a freshmen class. These guys are gamers.

  24. Hes only getting better too, it took him a few games to adjust to the scheme but he is really taking off. His twitch, burst and athleticism will carry over to the NFL nicely. Wouldnt be suprised to see him have a nice long career.

  26. He kept grabbing his shoulder during the second half of the OSU game. I actually suggested pulling him if he was hurt because a close loss wasn't going to hurt us in the long run, and potentially losing him for the season if he kept playing was a much more dangerous option.

  28. If anyone is taking yesterday's result seriously as reason to be concerned I have nothing for them. Team closed with a lineup of second stringers that would never occur in a game that counts and contest was in an unfamiliar environment. To me the Butler and UNC games that were treated much more like tune ups is better evidence of what team should be. Maybe its because I was at first two and only saw few minutes if yesterday on TV. However, definitely not panicked.

  29. I was at the game Saturday. He looks good on the run, Held the ball a bit too long a few times. Overall, he has the tools, but the line has to give him some more time in the pocket.

  31. Agree with a lot of this. WKU was athletic and disruptive with one guy that can really score. Type of team that likely wins their league and will be a tough 1st rd game. Great to play against that in an exhibition game as they clearly were looking to knock off Indiana. The starters weren’t good, which can be a good teaching game for the staff, and I suspect we will see some very good nights and some not so good nights from both Burton and Lindsay just based on how they are wired. Hopefully not both struggling at the same time. Sherrell is the one I worry won’t produce at the level needed. Skilled, can hit the 3 ball and is good defensively but doesn’t have much scoring variance and struggles when driving or putting the ball on the floor. Will be interesting to see how the staff develops and/or utilizes him.

  39. The three freshmen down the stretch have been magnificent. No turnovers and Karvala is an energy machine. And Prince. Is. It. And Lindsey is the best player on the floor.
