  1. Multiview on the big screen is a new feature since I went to YouTube TV. Champ week is coming

  2. If you have a 18 year old son or daughter they have only seen IU with a winning conference record in 4 of those years. Instead of worrying about fielding a roster that is competing for the top of the B1G focus on building a roster that can actually produce a winning conference record in back to back years. When you can do that then worry about taking over the B1G.

  3. I don’t think he said that it would take years to win. He said it would take years to balance the roster by class, so you don’t have to replace a whole roster. Sounds like he is a build thru HS recruits and supplement needs via the portal.

  4. Need to be smart about the schedule as well. Fans like the big neutral court game against name brand teams however until you get this thing rolling it might be wiser to schedule second tier teams. Take away Louisville and Kentucky this year and replace it with 2 home games and IU could be sitting at 19-10 with 2 extra Q2 wins against lower level teams. People want a seat at the table however lately the only thing IU is bringing to the table is extra Q1 or Q2 wins for the power 5 non conference teams they play

  5. If you had a 137 year old son going into his freshman year at IU in 2024, he would’ve only seen IU win a bowl game in 3 of those years. Two years later that youngster watched IU win the national championship. The past doesn’t really matter anymore in today’s college landscape. Not if you’re a legit coach. Not when you can pay millions of dollars to players. BYU of all places is landing 5 stars, and it’s not because 18 year olds are hyped to abstain from the typical collegiate extracurricular activities. It should be much easier for a coach to get IU basketball back toward the top of the conference than it should be to win a football national championship at IU, but the basketball program seems cursed.

  6. Once upon a time we had a thread devoted to wrestling but when we were having all of our technical issues, some of the mods, present company excluded, got on a frenzy to delete old threads thinking that would help solve the problem. In their exuberance one of the mods, present company excluded, apparently deleted the then existing wrestling thread. I have the honor of creating a new wrestling thread with some really spectacular news. Tyler Lillard has been named the national male recipient of the 2026 Jackie Robinson Community & Impact Award. https://bigten.org/wrest/article/59522/

  7. I'll be honest -- down 20, I didn't think we had it in us. Helluva win, and we'll see ya tomorrow.

  8. Maybe next years roster will produce IU a winning conference record for only the 5th time in 19 years. We all can hope

  9. I've seen one or 2 have him going to Buffalo which would be a great spot with Allen there and getting in sync with him. The Bills haven't had good young receivers who are steady in a while.

Watched quite a few Miami games, he's only been in foul trouble a couple times. You can tell he's received much better coaching. Drastic reduction in the # of stupid fouls we watched him commit. I'm really happy he's having a successful year, always rooted for him, dude played hard.

  17. Not if you’re comparing CDD to what those coaches did in their first year. Like we’ve discussed a bunch before, if CDD can at least get into the dance this year he’s roughly on a Pat Kelsey/Lville path. Obviously guys like May and Pope and Cal were able to do a little more their first year. I think that’s where the “new coach/new team” cap comes into play. A 4 seed and a S16 would put you into that best performance you can expect with a brand new portal team territory. It might not mean much, but at least the optics of always being 2nd rate compared to your peers isn’t great.

  18. For sure. To get 5 spots, we need two transfers. The likeliest candidates (Ristic, Andrej, Harris, Drake) probably aren't making much, so sending them packing won't free up much more money. If the seniors are making ~7M, that should be plenty to add 5 quality players IMO. Very eager to see how we move in the portal.

  19. Not cheering that. Not jeering that. It's about what was expected. "They thought they were better than what they were?" All I've ever seen and heard from staff is that they were trying to win the next game on the calendar; not how the entire season would be. Top 20 NIL? Maybe - sure. NIL is a bell curve. If we're top 20 we were a lot closer to 20th than 1st. Heck; maybe we're 15th! The message board or RMK era fan expectations are very, very different than the expectations of people in the business and media that regularly covers the sport. Those folks more or less had us as a 17-20 win team. They aren't always right, but in this case, that's how it's shook out.

  21. His son is a 5th year senior. Nobody in that position is going to burn the year rebuilding with young guys like Todd Golden or a couple other coaches did.

  23. So he wasted a year trying to "win now." Now does he go younger and suffer the growing pains of a young team? He coulda shoulda done that this year.

  24. We were 5-6 (and only that good because Randle El was that dude), so he was never winning with that record. If we had a decent coach and some offensive help it could have been possible. The fact that he finished 6th in voting on that crap team is a testament to the legend of ARE.

  33. In other words, we are right at performance expectations. And I agree - we are below average on return for monetary investment. Because the size of a team's budget is only one of so many factors that can contribute to success or failure. And that can be at least partially explained by having to pay 'transfer in' price for everyone except for Sisley and the two Eastern Euro kids.

  34. If you pit those metrics against a 3rd one—money spent—then IU would look bad. Maybe one of the worst in the country. We’re basically getting average results, both in roster construction and coaching, for a premium price. That’s not good. It’s why UK fans aren’t happy—they reportedly had an ultra premium budget and neither their roster or results are better than “pretty good.” The question is: can we leverage more time, more money, and more staff so that we get premium results for a premium budget?

  38. These are my thoughts and honestly a starting point for this program. Just be respectable in the conference to start and get to the tournament yearly. The recruiting then will start working itself out, and you can slowly build this thing to get to top 3 in the conference. I have given up hoping I'll see another banner in this lifetime. I've seen 2 I guess that's my quota. I just want to see my team called on selection sunday on an annual basis again. With a respectable NIL budget, I just can't understand how that cannot happen.

  42. The idea was fine. Needed to win. Build momentum. Proof of concept. Etc. Unfortunately selling out to do that, then building a mid roster and getting mid results says it all. Now Carr saying it’s gonna take years. lol. What are we doing.

  44. It’s really all a mess. I like DDV but I’m not convinced he’s a big brain type. He’s a hard worker type, which I respect, but the best of the best think outside of the box on and off the court. It bums me out, because I want him to be better than he is.

  45. I would say that he built this year's roster in an attempt to win now; it's very much a veteran roster. And if you agree with that, then yes, it's a wasted year.

  46. I would take Bruce...but that ship has sailed. CDD is our coach and frankly we should all get behind him. We don't know if he's going to work out, but I think he has a better chance of working out than not.

  47. After Leal and Galloway tried to dress down the fanbase 2 years ago, I'm fine to see this change. The whole Woodson s#!t show from that time frame left a bad taste, and ruined the fun for everyone. Mediocre Mike, this one's on you. #goodriddance Yeah, I'll be able to let it go someday. Maybe.

  48. This is what I think too. I really think he thought moving from WVU he would be able to recruit higher level kids easier because its INDIANA. Dusty banners and a program that hasn't been successful in these recruits' lives doesn't make it an easy sell. Not to mention most high-level recruits have NBA aspirations, and CDD hasn't proven to be that coach at this point. So, we can sell playing time and cash but not much else. Carr has NBA connections...maybe they can sell that to those recruits. This is a tough job with a rabid fanbase that has high expectations from the past that doesn't make it easy on a coach to come in and build. I will say football winning has taken some heat off however so that may be a good thing for CDD in the long run. This is such a sleeping giant. Seems preposterous to me that this program that should have been so easy to get going has been so mismanaged for this long.
