First surgery complete … femur repair done. Next surgery will be 6-8 weeks from now to do the ligament repair/reconstruction. Calf muscle should heal on its own, as should the tibia fracture. Thanks for your prayers.

Really tired of the “exposed in the playoff” chatter about IU. Based on our OSU/ND performances were we truly a threat to win it all? No, we were not, but you could say that same thing about 8 or 9 of the teams in the playoff. We 100% earned the right to be in the playoff. Tennessee got curb stomped 42-17 vs OSU, and was NEVER in the game, but how many “Tennessee was exposed in the playoff” comments are in the webverse? Virtually zero. Let’s prove it on the field again this year!!!

Watching the pregame show on The B1G Network right now. Rutgers and Ohio kick off in a little over 10 minutes. Don't know if I can stay awake until after midnight to watch all the games. But I sure as hell will try.

The top teams in our conference have had generations of good/great teams. There are generations of fans who have enjoyed that success. We are new to the party and don't have the depth of those other teams yet. So in a sense, our support is shallow comparatively. Last year was awesome but a significant number of IU fans haven't completely bought in. Continued success will change that over time.

Tennessee signs Rick Barnes to a “lifetime contract.” Dude’s 71 and, I think, has 1 more year on his deal. So signing him to something like a 3 year extension probably would have served the same purpose. But structuring it like that is certainly a nice bouquet for the school to throw his way and he’s anbsolutely earned it.

For anyone that was wondering, I got my confirmation of tickets for Marquette about an hour ago in my email. Got lower bowl tickets at $100 apiece. Billing on September 2, so I’m assuming one could decide against taking them if they want to.

The NFHS network is really great from a recruit following perspective. Majority of schools are on it. Some have announcers. Most are just streams from half court at the top of the stands with this generic crowd noise pumped across it so it’s not dead quiet. Set it up with the high schools of recruits favorited and it sends you reminders every day of who’s playing that night. Absolutely love it.

FWIW I had the full ligament redo after tearing my ACL/MCL during an IU Law School HPER intramural game at age 24. After that surgery I had no bounce……………………Before that surgery I had no bounce!! :) Been many decades and my surgery knee is pretty much as good as the other one—good enough to have played 3 on 3 hoops at the city courts a few months ago on my 60th bday

2025 EuroBasket tournament started today with Finland defeating Sweden 93-90. Miikka played 8 minutes, scored 5 pts., 2 reb., 1 to. Finland faces Great Britain on Friday. The tournament runs through Sept. 14.

I watched the pregame presser with the ODU coach and was impressed with him. They sound prepared and capable of giving us a test. I don't expect this game to be a walk in the park, especially if we take them lightly. The first game with a bunch of new guys always makes me a little anxious.

So the word is that the SEC is going to 9 conference games plus require a P4 OOC contest. If that’s the case I am sure the Big Ten will match the P4 out of conference game requirement. I’ll bet Scott D wishes he didn’t give UVA $500,000 to get out of that series as UVA would have been a perfect way to meet the requirement (the downside is that the scintillating Kennesaw State rematch would not have been scheduled). If we have another great year, which I am expecting, it will be interesting to see if a UVA-type team will even want to play us as I’m sure that, when the deal was originally signed, UVA assumed they had a good chance of beating us. In any case getting both conference on 9 conf games+1 P4 schedules will be a good thing for CFB.
