Good stuff. Overall, our fans want to love the bball program and will do their best to — in my view they only flip when things are obviously going very bad. The fishbowl narrative is nonsense. I like the fit with CDD here and I think he will get a fair shot to succeed. Fingers crossed we got our guy for the long run.

Went to see Caleb (my grandson) today. He was in really good spirits, and not too much pain, due to the medication. He's not completely sure what happened, but he said that his cleat got stuck in the turf (natural grass), and got hit in the scrum. He was playing linebacker and had tied up the running back then BANG, and he collapsed. He goes to see the orthopedic surgeon first thing Monday and they will go from there. Not sure if they will do the repairs in a single grueling surgery or if it will be a series of operations. Appreciate all the kind words and the prayers.

I still think you can add some seats and it function well. Probably more luxury seating, but for the life of me, Idk why you'd want to sit field level. Its an atrocious view. I think you could build some pretty awesome "penthouse" suits in above sections 111, 112-- as examples. Like all four corners could house a penthouse suite. Fill in seating around that. Maybe you add a couple thousand seats as a result.. nothing major.

I don’t think the stadium needs to expand all that much, if at all. The demand is not there for that. It needs to modernize in a very bad way, however, which we all know. They’re sticking “suites” in every somewhat empty corner of the place and while that’s an ok patch for now, that needs addressed sooner than almost anything now that the team-facing facilities are in a good place.

We need more fan interest first. Interest has grown a lot but our FB fanbase is still quite small. Current ticket availability per Trevor Burch: OD - 8,518 Kenn St - 10,541 ISU - 9,865 Illinois - Sold Out Mich St - 4,734 UCLA - 4,741 Wisc - 7,204 I’d love enough fan interest to justify a larger stadium. It could happen… The thing I’d really like to see is enough corporate interest to justify suites. Those can be nice revenue drivers. Lucas Oil is sponsoring the field suites, so it’s starting to happen… My guess is over the next five years we are going to complete redo the east and west stands which are 65 years old. Hopefully IU nails the design. Anyways, this is all good stuff.

Effective immediately, the Memorial Stadium playing surface has been renamed Merchants Bank Field at Memorial Stadium. 1. Depends. Short answer, more than likely. But if there are multiple 10-2 teams it gets trickier. For example, if UM, Illini, a dark horse (say USC) and some SEC schools finish 10-2, then we got an uphill battle. Finishing undefeated or with one loss then we're back in the playoffs 100%. 2. PLAYOFFS!! Aside from winning it, a CFP appearance is the most prestigious accomplishment in college football. It's the reason we're currently get hammered by the SEC media about our appearance last year. They want that spot for a reason. We broke the status quo by going 11-1 in the Big Ten conference. Now the selection committee is changing the criteria on getting an at-large selection. Going forward, we should be looking at playing in a non CFP bowl as a participation trophy. CFP gets the eyes of the 5 and 4 star recruits, it brings in more money to the program, it improves the brand, it is the whole enchilada. It's the new tradition now. Wanting to play in a bowl over the CFP is like saying you would rather walk to your vacation destination instead of flying to it.

I just got a call from my son. My 16 year old grandson was injured in football practice on Wednesday. They just got the report from the MRI and CT scan. It's not good, and I'd appreciate your prayers. He has: Complete ACL tear Complete MPFL tear (ligament that connects the patella to the femur) Partial MCL tear Lateral miniscus tear Gastrocnemius tear (calf muscle tear) Tibia fracture Femur fracture thru growth plate, which is still open The doctor is very concerned about blood clots and compartment syndrome, and we are waiting to hear what the next step is. No doubt, it will involve some serious surgery, and a long, brutal recovery.
