  1. Players were interviewed yesterday too. A little more interesting than usual since everyone is new, so I'll post them. It's a likable group. I get the sense CDD's program is much different from what we've had the past 10 years, which is likely a good thing of course. Lamar Tucker Conerway Reed Sam Conor (was he in a boxing match?) 2. The first couple of months of the CDD era were most certainly not a cluster f. Head coaches and staffs don't suddenly 'figure things out'. There was always a plan and a mindset that was in action, both for good days and bad days; it's just that some (not most) fans were impatient because they didn't see the public results immediately.

  3. I will be surprised if The Nandolarian doesn't produce. Rourke was hand picked, just like The Nandolarian. Buckle up, we're in for a treat. Every single starting QB in Coach Cig's system has produced. "That’s just a historical fact." -Coach Cig Gang, I cannot stress enough just how lucky we are to have a really good football coach and staff. We need to get accustomed to having a solid football team every year. Hopefully this year will quiet all the skeptics.

  5. Rewatched the UCLA game tonight and got to wondering if we might be overlooking how good Rourke was last year. Sure he wasn’t too mobile but he was incredibly accurate with a variety of throws with touch. He made it look so easy

  10. I sure hope folks haven’t overlooked that. Rourke was freakin’ incredible. It was in an understated way; no flash, not a cannon, poor guy couldn’t out-run Cig on that knee, but he was razor sharp. The entire offense was a well-oiled machine from the depth guys all the way up to Shanahan, but Rourke made that thing go.

The exercise of worrying about how bad it would be if we lose an All B1G Ten performer isn't for me and not all that relevant. Just be thankful to have them

If we could avoid comparing our current guys to not so good Woody players that would be appreciated! ;-)

  17. Injuries are bad. Water is wet. Hopefully we avoid them... Except for the truly elite programs (maybe), no college football team could afford to start their second stringers at key / multiple positions and still expect to win at the same level. We can worry about that when it happens. Until then... all I see looking at the depth chart... is the most talented IUFB roster... led by the best coach IUFB has had in my life.

  19. Team seems like they’re a lot cooler people. The type of dudes you could have a beer with. Previous teams have seemed like they liked the smell of their own farts even though they didn’t do anything lol

I thought Cupps handled himself adequately given the situation he was thrown into. I was really annoyed he didn’t fix his jumper in the offseason though. He should be a rotation guy at OSU. Not sure what I think about the Enright / Coneroy backcourt. On one hand I’d hope for a little more shooting. Otoh, it would go a long way to adding a little defensive punch. Either way, playing that small we’ll have to rebound like crazy.

  29. LOL. SMU had two QBs who were in a competition. Stone sucked and had an ouchy toe. Jennings won the job early in the season. Stone threw 51 passes, all in the first three games; Jennings threw 380 passes. If there ever was an example of "nothing like our situation" that would be it.

  31. See, pretty notable change. You went from “true” freshman to just freshman, I’d say there’s a rather significant difference between guys who are fresh out of high school and guys who have a year+ under their belt at the college level. I also am not sure where you are coming up with these freshman from. LB? We have Isaiah Jones and Kaiden Turner there in reserve, neither of which are freshman. Safety has one freshman who’s in the two deep because he was extremely highly touted and impressed the staff early on. Interior D Line? Again, likely not a single freshman sitting on your two deep there, but as third string, sure? offensive line, once again, not one true freshman there, and you do have a few redshirt freshman across the board, but we have a clear top 6 there and versatile guys who can switch. I don’t think a redshirt freshman being in a reserve role is a red flag, every team in the country has that.

So I shouldn't say that: Tucker Devries has a jumper just like Mgbako's, Jason Drake is wearing IU gear he bought at Leal's yard sale, Jasai Miles has Malik Reneau's infectious grin, Reed Bailey has the same cheesy mustache as CJ Gunn, AND MOST TROUBLING Rod Clark is currently sitting in what used to be Armond Hill's Napping Chair ® Copy that.

  34. I was pretty early to hop on the Enright train when he hit the portal and basically had exactly this impression from seeing him play in person. The quotes you posted are all pretty sunshiny, but I like this one a lot.

  35. Only because our other opponents are going to bring a small number of fans because of some combination of their team being not good, their fans don’t travel well, and/or their school is very far away. For Illinois, by the time tickets went on sale to the general public there were less than 5K left. IU season ticket holders and donors were buying them up. After Nebraska and UM didn’t have much of a showing here last year, I’m not worried about any school showing up big except OSU.

    IUFB Offseason Updates

A healthy Mendoza is about as much of a guarantee as a new QB can be, for two reasons: As Lebowski stated, every single starting QB for Cig has been outstanding, and In a lesser P4 system Mendoza has already been really, really good, with his best attribute having been his accuracy. 6'5" guys with a big arm and accuracy are destined for success.

  41. Rourke did struggle in my view against better teams when the O Line didn’t hold up. Obviously ACL was a big part of that. but he just couldn’t move, couldn’t extend plays, and it’s really hard for your pass protection to hold consistently against teams like OSU and Notre Dame. that’s one element Mendoza brings, the guy can move.

Yeah, perfect example of this comes from Wisconsin last year. According to 247 sports, last year they lost the #4 overall transfer AJ Storr and replaced with the #296 player John Tonje Rankings are nice but they're a very unimportant part of the whole picture in terms of winning. Maybe someone like Conerway, Dorn, Miles, Alexis or Harris has a much bigger than anticipated impact next year. Less than two weeks til the first preview of our brand new program. This fresh start is beyond welcomed / very exciting.
