  1. I have a pretty fair idea what Tom Allen is doing right. At the risk of oversimplifying: He is inspiring the living daylights out of his staff and his team.

  2. His comments are just really stupid too. This one might take the cake. Bob Knight went to the final four in his second season. He won 4 conference titles in his first 5 seasons at IU. Archie has finished worse in the big ten each season. From 6th to 9th to 10th. Priller is one of the worst players to ever get an IU basketball scholarships and yet the fans still supported him for 4 years. He should probably just stay off Twitter.

  3. Seems this culture problem has existed through different rosters and coaches. So what's the underlying problem and why hasn't it been fixed?

  4. With the financial situation that COVID has brought to some of these athletic departments my guess is buying a coach out of his contract is not something that many will be doing

  5. Ever since I was a kid, anytime I have been able to watch IU play, I have always been excited to watch the greatest sport ever. That doesn't mean I am ok with mediocrity. That doesn't mean I don't want more B1G Championships. It doesn't mean I don't want to be in the Tournament every year and make it to the Saturday or Sunday of the 2nd weekend and beyond. All of those would make it even more exciting. I figured out a few years ago that I should always be excited about the things I love because you never know when your time is through. Merry Christmas to all of you. We may not always agree with each other about players, coaches, etc, but we all have 1 thing in common, our love for IU Basketball. Sent from my SM-G975U using Tapatalk

  6. Priller comments on Twitter is what is wrong with indiana basketball. These kids don't get it. The fans will not support weak efforts and losing at indiana. The players shouldn't want to be supported for losing or even for just being a player. They should be pissed off more than the fans but that doesn't seem to be the case and archie hasn't impacted that mentality like I thought he would. That is why the writing is on the wall imo Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk

  7. For those that say the problems exist above Archie, how did Allen do it in football? Is his success not sustainable? Sent from my iPad using BtownBanners

  8. I’m not saying I’m anti Archie or anything like that but does anyone else think Priller needs to give it a rest on Twitter? Quite possibly the worst scholarship player and maybe even the worst player to ever play for IU and he’s coming at the fans like we didn’t have to sit there and tolerate him wasting space on the team for four years?

  9. Bring in Brian Michaelson - Young guy known for his recruiting and player development at Gonzaga i am sick and tired of either yawning or wanting to pull my hair out watching IU games under Archie.

  10. The administration can’t/won’t get out of their own way. There are plenty of donors that would cover whatever it cost to hire a PROVEN winner at this level. Until that happens, I’ll watch every game and hope we catch lightning in a bottle but won’t be confident we return to the program I grew up watching. The list is short for me. 11. If I'm being honest, I wish I could've gotten my college paid for to do nothing except make sure the bench doesn't fly away.

  12. After reading through some of his tweets, I never thought I'd say this, but Priller is a moron.

  13. Why would people have complained about Knight. He improved upon his predecessor instantly and then won the big ten 4 straight times in years 2-5. Winning a NC while he was at it.

  14. We could be headed to dangerous Title IX territory here. Would the men stop their whole season over an outbreak or resume when it gets back under control? If the answer is the men would keep playing once outbreak passes and the women want to play, but administration says no, Title IX could get murky. I am sure they are quicker to stop women for safety which is not wrong, but does expose how much money the men's side brings in and how they are slower to stop all together. It's not just Duke, but all kinds of Title IX questions could arise depending on how this plays out and raises uncomfortable questions about it we never expected because of the pandemic. Update: Per release this was purely Duke's decision. Assuming that's true they should be OK, but does raise the question if the men opted out would they be pushed harder not to do so?

  15. I've always found it weird to blame the kids when there's a highly paid adult in charge of their play.

  16. Fair enough. I disagree. "Will they be better who knows". I mean, come on. You don't fire someone and simply hope the next guy is better. That would be the most incompetent thing the admin could do. Say we fire Archie end of this year - who are you going after and how long are you giving him to succeed?

  17. We pay the second most in the big ten. Archie was one of the most sought after young coaches in basketball. Stop this BS narrative that we can’t get anybody. The same stuff was spewed about Crean. Archie has failed miserably but he was still a hot commodity at the time. Will they be better who knows. But we have seen Archie can’t get it done

  22. Here is how I see our 3 top guards under CAM. I posted this last year also. RP--rated 4* out of HS has played like a 3* his whole career @ IU. AD--3* out of HS still a 3*. AF 3* star out of HS played like 3* last year 4* this year. Where is the development? That's on CAM. He recruits to fit his style of coaching. Well obviously his style of coaching is average. I really wanted CAM to be the guy IU led us to believe he was. Need I say more about that... Is it me or has anyone else noticed how soft Jerome Hunter is? Shies away from any contact on offense or defense. Everything is finesse for him. No power moves. If IU keeps playing the way they have for past 2 years I can't wait for NASCAR to start back up. It's all I watch IU & NASCAR in that order but it may change come mid January.

  26. I don't think adding any of them helps. Archie's system is that seriously flawed. There isn't anything that will help this offense. Even when Franklin was on fire against Butler, everything was still clogged. Even the pack line defense is weak for it being the 4th year and having several guys who have played 2+ years in it. Archie doesn't belong at IU. Plain and simple. He belongs somewhere with low expectations.

  27. We showed interest/recruited Luka Garza, Aaron Henry, Curbelo, Cockburn, Dosunmu, Hunter Dickinson?, Dj Carton, Dawson Garcia, Keion Brooks, Bouknight, and host of other nice looking players. Add 2 of those guys to this roster and let them play, are we a top 10 team? Maybe not. But probably. Recruiting is dipping, and you have to win with the guys you have so it all means nothing. 29. This is a case where looks are deceiving. The B1G that year only got 4 teams in the tourney. That roster went 9-9 in B1G play with 7 of those 9 wins coming against the bottom 5 teams with a combine B1G record of 21-69. Best win in the B1G that year was against Penn St who went 9-9 The IU teams that finished under .500 in conference after that had way more impressive wins in conference despite finishing under .500

  30. This is going to veer slightly off topic, but no, they didn't. There were plenty of games in Years 2 and 3 where the team just mailed it in. The home loss to Iowa where we scored 43 points comes to mind. "Has Tom Crean lost another team?" was an annual thread title that even made an appearance during Zeller's freshman year. I think our fans have selective memories when it comes to those teams because the following two seasons were so much better. That doesn't excuse some of the performances we've seen in this era, but Crean's teams most certainly did not play hard every night.

  31. I felt a little bad because some of the people were saying that in response to him, but honestly he should expect blowback like that when he decides to trash fans. The fanbase was always nice to Priller even though he was a total waste of a scholarship for 4 years. Players shouldn’t expect fans to be happy with them when they go out and play like they don’t care for an entire half like they did last night. Even worse when that’s been a consistent theme for 4 years now. IU fans supported terrible teams for Crean’s first three years because they went out and played hard every night. But don’t expect us to be cheery when you play like you don’t care.

  33. I'm not ready to cut ties with Archie, but I'll admit my confidence in the direction we're heading is shot. Worse, my interest in IU basketball has never been lower. Maybe it's because the coronavirus taught me I can live without sports, who knows. We are clearly not winning the recruiting battles we need to. Losing our top targets to Creighton, Georgetown, and Purdue is quite a gut check of where we are as a program. This is a problem because it doesn't appear Archie is going to be coaching circles around anyone and finishing in the top 5 of the conference despite having lesser talent. Part of his philosophy is "getting older". How many of the guys who have stayed in the program have truly gotten better? It pains me to say this because I like the kid, but maybe Rob Phinisee just isn't that good. It doesn't seem like he has what it takes to be a starter on a team that's trying to compete for conference titles. Has Al Durham gotten any better? We're just not any better than we were 4 years ago as a basketball program.

  35. Home run coaching hire. I'm not saying it has to be a Stevens or Donovan but someone that says "yessir we have something here". Who would that be for me? Chris Beard, Bruce Pearl, Whitman, Woodson or even Fife at this point. There are clearly others that are not realistic that would be included in that list. Truth is I'm not sure it can get a whole lot worse. When I think I'd rather watch a Cream team than this my opinion is justified. Sent from my Pixel 3a XL using Tapatalk

  36. Hire a coach who loves the program like Tom Allen loves his program. Someone who hates seeing how mediocre IU basketball has become and will be awake at 3 in the morning drawing up ways to change it. I have no idea who that is, but it wouldn't necessarily have to be a former player or alum. Just someone who isn't going to act so damn helpless all the time.

  37. No enthusiasm for Indiana basketball in general. As far as the coaches, who knows? But the results speak for themselves, and the recruiting results are a good indicator on the pulse of the brand. Sent from my iPad using BtownBanners mobile app

  39. I dug up this old thread because -- well, why not. Apparently, CTA says Penix won't be ready by spring but will be ready to go come next season (whatever that season will look like). This is part of the reason why I was disappointed to see the original Bucket Game canceled, then it's reincarnation and/or a potential game against Iowa axed as well. I wanted to see Tuttle with this offense for at least three more games (now, we'll get just one). I'm guessing there will have to be a QB "controversy" next summer. I don't think you necessarily hand the keys back to Penix, especially given that he hasn't been able to get through a full season yet. If there are spring workouts, it would seem Tuttle would have an advantage -- but I guess we'll just have to see what the summer holds ...

  40. Yes, I quoted myself. Her high school team won a game last night 70-57. She had 35 pts; 6 reb; 3 assts; 5 stls; 1 blk. For the season she's shooting over 65 percent from the field, 44 percent from 3 in averaging 35.1 ppg this year.
