  7. Those announcer's bugged the hell out of me. They focused on what PSU was doing wrong (as opposed to what IU was doing right) or what PSU needed to do right (not what IU needed to do) and rarely angled the commentary towards IU positives. It's irritating watching 'neutral' coverage as if you're watching the Nittany Lion Broadcasting Crew.

  19. I get you don't like him or wanted somebody else or whatever... but if the entire basis of your constant negativity is that he doesn't evolve and we don't make progress with him as our coach i am curious as to how you measure progress? Wins? Year 1 - went down 2, made progress as the year went on as we had 2 more conference wins than the prior year. (I don't see that as bad with an entire new staff and philosophy, not even to mention the players) Year 2 - 3 more wins than year 1 Postseason? Year 1 nothing, year 2 NIT, Year 3....? (Seems like progress to me) Eye Test? If you can actually tell me you remember what the first game if his tenure looked like and we still look the same then there is nothing else to say? Stats? Points Scored up 275 in yr 2, Rebounds up 173 in yr 2, Assists up 34 in yr 2, Steals up 27 in yr 2, Blocks up 20 in yr 2... FGM up, 3FGM up, FTM up.... the only statistical category that didn't improve in year 2 was turnovers Recruiting? As previously mentioned 2 (possibly 3) straight Indiana Mr Basketball, Locked down the State, good momentum

  21. Indy Star - Stefan Krajisnik BLOOMINGTON – Chants of “Bobby” and “Thank you, coach” echoed throughout The Bluebird on Saturday as former Indiana basketball coach Bob Knight made a surprise appearance. "Hoosier Hysterics" — a podcast dedicated to Indiana men’s basketball — was hosting a live event when the former coach made an unexpected arrival to close out the afternoon. Knight took the stage to a loud roar and a plethora of cellphones recording the moment. It is rare for him to make public appearances in Bloomington, and on Indiana’s campus, as the emotions around his firing continue to linger nearly 20 years later. Knight made an appearance at an Indiana baseball game last spring, but there have not been many signs of him making a return to Assembly Hall. However, he showed some intention to return while at The Bluebird. “Let’s go tomorrow,” Knight said in response to a fan asking when he’ll be returning to the arena. There is no men’s basketball game scheduled for Sunday, but there is a women’s game slated. While he showed signs of being open to an Assembly Hall return, most of his time on stage was a showcase of personality. The mystery surrounding Bob Knight: 'People just want to know about him' Knight did not refrain from cursing and made jokes about former players that were in attendance not knowing how to play defense. “You’ve gotta excuse my language right now,” Knight said. “Because when I was coaching that’s all I talked about.” With numerous former players in attendance, Knight showed gratitude toward them and toward the fans for how he was treated during his 29 seasons as Hoosiers coach. “I think they knew that the fans here really wanted to see good basketball, and they gave it to them,” he said while choking up. Signs of Knight’s competitiveness showed as well. As he thanked former players, he made sure to note the success the program had in his time. “This was a great place to coach, and it was an opportunity to coach a lot of great kids,” Knight said. “And more important than that, we just about beat everybody’s @$$.” And he made sure to show his flair for rivalry never left either. “Is that son of a (expletive) from Purdue over there,” Knight said. Knight was persistent to stay on stage as long as possible, and numerous times as the event began to wrap up, he remained with the microphone in hand. After the crowd joined country singer Clayton Anderson in performing the Indiana fight song for Knight, he eventually made his way off the stage. But it came as chants of “Bobby” filled the air again, and the man so many referred to as “The General” gave the crowd a final salute.

  22. I’ve said it for years but it goes way above Big Ten officials. If these refs were making bad calls in the eyes of the conference they wouldn’t be working Big Ten games. There is a pecking order in the conference and Indiana isn’t going to change that until they give them no chance in changing it. **** the Big Ten Whop definitely should have gotten out of the way on that punt. However, show me a time when a ball (football, basketball, soccer ball, etc.) hit something and didn’t change rotation. It just doesn’t happen. **** the Big Ten Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

  23. We need to continue to upgrade our talent and build depth. I thought we were very competitive even though we played most of the game without our two best offensive players. We have a shot in each of the remaining games, although neither will be easy. I see progress and actually look forward to the rest of this season and next. That doesn't happen very often.

  31. Ohhh. ... Did anybody see the obvious hold as Clifford broke up the middle? Our guy had a beat on him, but the PSU lineman just tackled him. Man, we need to get some breaks here and that's one we should get. Very obvious penalty.

  34. It seemed like Maryland had better size up front. They blocked or seemed to have hands on a ton of IU shots while IU wasn’t able to disrupt as many shots. IU’s best player was a sophomore, Edwards. Losing Lexi Johnson At 6’5 last year after a promising freshman year last year hurt. I think it’s too soon to throw in the towel on Aird. He’s got a tremendous, top 10 class coming in. I would assume he will also look to add transfers to help fill gaps. It’s been a frustrating year for them with so many close losses. 36. Peyton Ramsey throwing for 371 on 41 passes with no picks was certainly a highlight (one touchdown passing (should have been two) and two rushing). I look at Philyor's stat line with two turnovers and know that neither should have been (although he should have never attempted to field the punt and that put it into question).

  41. Didn’t get to watch, but we lost to a top 10 team on the road by 7. I know it sucks and apparently we played well enough to win outside of mistakes and refs, but normal IU teams lose this game by a lot more. I know it helps I didn’t see the game, but feels like progress! Need to go kick the crap out of Michigan! Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners

  42. I didn't think we would win, but I still can't get over that PSU was essentially gifted 25 points. A recap .. 7 -- TD after stupid fumble-not fumble on our first possession 7 -- TD on long Clifford run with obvious missed hold 7 -- TD after stupid, stupid fake punt 4 -- Dropped TD pass on which we settle for FG (OK that's not giving them points, but it's taking 4 away from us) Why, oh why, can't we win these games! ... So damn frustrating.

  47. People shouldn’t take “insiders” word as gospel. I enjoy hearing what they have to say and just take it with a grain of salt, what gets annoying is the fact that every single thread gets over taken by these posts about how bad they are. 48. I know of Ned and heard of his connections to IU but even if Archie or staff gave him recruiting tid bits (which I highly doubt they do) he wouldn’t be telling his buddies especially given how easily it would be to know his “buddies” are turning around and posting said info on sites. Guys like Ned would shut that down in a second knowing it would otherwise result in him being shut out. Personally I think all of that “insider” stuff is nonsense by people who enjoy feeling important. It’s nauseating and I’d just assume wait until a kid announces rather than get all caught up in the preliminary crap. Sometimes we as adults need to get a grip and not take our hobbies so seriously. The “insider” stuff I see over here makes sense and seems to be presented as an educated opinion where as over on HSN it’s to be treated as gospel. Any notion of challenging it or holding those “insiders” who spread BS accountable will be met with mob justice. I made one comment here of my opinion of Sam Story (one that many people agree with) and someone brought it over there causing a **** storm. It’s pretty pathetic imo. I’m glad this site tends to root itself reality and isn’t the soap opera that is hsn.
