IUMS @ Northwestern - 2/27/21 @ 1:00 ET
mjhoosier replied to Class of '66 Old Fart's topic in Other Indiana Hoosiers Athletics
Agreed. The offense was really off. Credit to NW defense, but IU passing and spacing was poor. IU had very few chances. Northwestern was smart. Every throw in near the IU goal, they threw it to the front like a corner kick. They were able to covert one of them. IU was outplayed and did not look like a top 10 team. Spencer Glass is a much better player than it showed today. In these early games Bezerra has been option 1, 2, and 3. Got to find more offense. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners -

IUWBB vs Ohio State - 1/28/21 @ 8:00 on BTN

IU has to get more athletic. They have good players but they struggle to defend especially against the quality B10 teams like Maryland and OSU. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners -

OG’s Defense has been outstanding. 13 rebounds last night. Really defended well in addition. What a steal for Toronto to get him late in the 1st round. He’s gotten so much better over the last two years. Fun player to watch. Hit some Big Shots in the series as well. Love to see the ex Hoosiers thriving. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners

Surprised neither Dunham or Richardson taken. Another couple rounds, both probably gone off the board. IU will be loaded with a large roster. Not sure how many of the seniors will come back for the extra year. A solid freshman class coming but would assume some guys that might ordinarily have a chance to play as freshman could redshirt due to roster numbers. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners

The instate transfers from this season are worrisome, particularly Allen, the reigning Miss Basketball. Negative recruiting momentum coming off a really good season is unfortunate. Patterson looks to be a good transfer but long term, you have to build classes from HS seniors. If there is any sense that IU is not a desired place to send their players from HS and AAU coaches, that can hurt long term. Perception is reality. If the perception is “there’s a problem” down there , it can hurt with recruiting. Is it enough to give up on Moren? I don’t think so but it’s something to watch. That being said, I will say 15 scholarships in WBB is a large number. Hard to play that many players. Can imagine there would be frustration from those riding the bench. Williams amassed 84 catches, 1,278 receiving yards and 15 touchdowns as a junior at Westover High School in 2019. Transferring to Deion Sanders prep school in Texas for senior year. Film looks good. Looks to be Another solid receiver Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners

Hunter Combs and Joe Wilkinson apparently also transferring. With current seniors getting to return next year plus the addition of next years freshman. Gonna make for interesting rosters. NCAA will have to expand rosters. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners

IU is talented but Loss of Bendu Yeaney was big. She may prob best defender before her Injury and subsequent transfer. Need more quickness on the interior. nD transfer Patterson should help next year. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners

Sounds like Walker may he headed back home to Virginia. Bet he still moves on. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners

It’s going to take a couple years as he’s improving the talent but to have 8 teams in the top 10 in insane. He’s recruiting at a High level. Those youngsters will take their lumps but expect big improvement next year Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners

IUWBB vs #13 Maryland 2/6 @ 8 pm BTN
mjhoosier replied to mamasa's topic in Indiana Women's Basketball
Agree. This is a good IU team but it’s not the most athletic. Especially after losing Bendu. I didn’t understand why she didn’t start Holmes in 2nd half. Maryland couldn’t stop her in the 1st and by the time she got in the 3rd. Maryland had surged ahead. Chanel needs to play a little more. She has good quickness. Patterson should help them Next year but I think Teri’s got to recruit more quickness, inside and backcourt perhaps using the transfer portal if she can find someone who can help. Berger, Penn, Patberg and Holmes are a solid top 4. IU Still a good team but Maryland’s got their number right now. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners -

Samari Curtis (2019) to Nebraska

When your leading assist man to this point is Joey Brunk. What does that say about your guard play? They need a point guard who can shoot a little, someone who will actually pass the ball to TJD Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners -
He was not in the booth with CKD. He should know the playbook but can he use that book correctly with the personnel. This is a big gamble. I hope it works and he’s better than anyone expects. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners

IUWBB vs #10 UCLA - Sunday, 12/22/19 @ Noon
mjhoosier replied to Class of '66 Old Fart's topic in Indiana Women's Basketball
UCLA has a little better quickness. Really hurt them on dribble drives and offensive rebounds. IU 3 point shooting and FT shooting and turnovers has hurt them today. IU has settled for 3s when they’ve had opportunities w Holmes inside. She’s been solid when they’ve got her the ball inside. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners
