  2. Dakich is irrelevant when it comes to IU hoops. He trashes Archie and the program every chance he gets. Meanwhile Archie is recruiting the state better than anyone in the last 25yrs., bringing back and getting support from past players, and getting the administration to spend money on renovations. I will trust our sources on BTB over anything he says(regarding IU). DD is the president of his own fan club. Hell, even Benson has said good things about Archie

  3. Week 1 Results Everyone who picked got one right with IU winning. @IUsafety @JHoosier914 @LamarCheeks and @The Ola Depot correctly picked IU to score 34 while @Brass Cannon and @IUc2016 both predicted Ball St to score 24. The aforementioned IUsafety and LamarCheeks tied for the Week 1 win with 132 pts. 4. Even if it’d be hilarious to hear I’d be disappointed in Archie if he did that. What’s the saying..? Never wrestle with a pig. You both get dirty and the pig likes it. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

  5. Look I am not saying IU was great today or anything, but did anybody watch other big ten games? Nebraska struggled at home against south Alabama. 35-21 Purdue lost at Nevada. 34-21 Minnesota barely beat FCS South Dakota State at home. 28-21. Iowa is only up 24-14 in the fourth as I type this against another MAC school, Miami (oh). No IU wasn’t great. But they were were far from terrible. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners

  6. Yep the way Archie gets his revenge in my book is to win, win big and then to make it clear to everybody involved in the program is to never give Dakich a single sound bite You’d have staff and players giving interviews to podcasts and fan sites but not Dakich sends a very loud message.

  7. Imagine a scenario where Archie goes on the radio and refers to him as fat dan, bald dan, ugly dan... it’s honest, no bs but it’s immature and disrespectful and there is no reason for an adult to talk to or about a peer in such a manner but dan isn’t above that. Maybe you are at the IU practices or in the homes when these kids are getting recruited but if not, how do you know what you stated about the coaches above? Other than hearing that from fat dan, I’m not sure how you would even come to those determinations Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

  8. People are just ready to get pissed again. This was the most electric offense we’ve seen since Sudfeld/Coleman, and it’s not even close. There was so much wrong with our play today, specifically on defense. A lot also changed this off-season in terms of coaches. We also didn’t see what we know Scott can do, nor did we truly see Sampson James. Overall, lots to improve upon in order to make and win a bowl, but I’m excited by this offense. DeBoer made some great play calls, and thank god we have an excellent kicker. Go Hoosiers. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners

  11. No, Dan has been critical of Archie from day one and is so immature as to publicly call him Little Archie and go through every staff member making fun of them. He might stop talking **** if we start wining consistently but he won’t have access to the team as people don’t forget Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

  12. You do realize Penix led one of those TD drives last year against Ball State and another TD was an 86 yard punt return for a TD by J-Shun Harris....and that was IU’s 3rd game last year with Ramsey at QB and he put up 24 points and threw for 173 yards sooooo that argument is moot. The D not being to get off the field on 3rd downs was the only thing keeping us from hanging 50+ on them. I don’t know how anybody could want Ramsey in over Penix at this point. We’ve seen what Ramsey can do and what we know is, we can’t win the big games with him, he’s had his chance, time to move on. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

  13. Lol @ complaining about the way the offense looked week 1. .. it was sooo much better than we've seen. We scored 34 and didnt play overly well. Eeesh.

  14. Did someone compare Peyton Manning’s colts offense to last years IU’s offense? [emoji52] Also, you all realize this was Mikes first start? In his second drive he did something Ramsey has never done and physically cannot do. Throw the ball 45-50 yards in the air on a line. This offense has a much much higher ceiling than any of the past 3-4 teams. Let’s give it a chance Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners

  15. If Archie is successful like we all hope Dan will become irrelevant very fast. Archie doesn’t strike me as somebody to cry about being attacked. But can’t imagine Dan will have the needed access if Archie has success if we are winning titles and he can’t get anybody from the team on his show what good will he be

  16. possibly: perhaps, maybe, conceivable something: a thing that is unknown or unspecified interesting: absorbing, engrossing, fascinating, riveting, gripping, compelling, compulsive, spellbinding, captivating, engaging, enthralling, entrancing, beguiling happening: occurrence, event, incident, scene, affair, circumstance, phenomenon, episode, adventure, experience, occasion, action, activity, development, eventuality, accident, case, business, thing Yes indeedy, the man is really going out on a limb with this one. Probably nothing more than he's planning to sign the new Alumni Basketball Wall.

  17. If Westbrook makes that catch in the 3rd quarter, we score 25 in the second half. 50's enough anywhere. Tennessee and Purdue would trade places with Indiana in a heartbeat. This offense is very obviously more wide open than a year ago

  21. The dude even trashes the program when he's calling our games. Plenty of people are capable of being controversial without acting like total dbags. Look at Skip Bayless. He's crazy but he doesn't treat guests like crap. I want us to be successful and the coaches/players to act like Dakich doesn't even exist. That'd be the best revenge.

  23. Yeah I'm not seeing it either. Our starting running back carried the ball 19 times, averaged 2.5 ypa, and had a long of 7. Against a MAC time. We had 457 yards against Ball State last year, only 17 fewer than this year. One more first down than this year. If anything this shows that the offense putting up good numbers against ball state doesn't mean much.

  25. Our D playing 60% of the first half was due to 1) the two INTs and 2) them not being able to tackle First half was very poor. Loved how the offense recovered in the second half. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

  26. You and Hoosierfan are really going all out on hating this performance. Kind of weird really. Can you admit that this offense has far greater potential and that Ramsey is not capable of everything Penix did yesterday? If not, we won’t agree. 29. Please tell us how an offense that had 59 more yards and 8 more points against Ball State than we averaged last year throughout the entire season was "soooo much better than what we've seen". The offense put up 554 yards against Penn State and 487 against Purdue last year. We're supposed to be impressed that we put up some points against a below average MAC team?

Count me in the automated strike zone camp, there are still other calls the umps would have to make without worrying about human error screwing that one up. Watch a low pitch get called a strike on Aaron Judge just because it'd be at the knees for an average player; that's just one example why it's needed.

    Daily MLB Banter

While umpires make errors, I hate the idea of an automated strike zone. As a coach of the game players are becoming self-entitled babies with the strike zone. How many good strikes do players watch, and then argue at a borderline pitch that can go either way. Sorry, no sympathy here. Baseball has too many changes that people want to make. Some are great, but making everything automated will take so much away from this game imo. I will still watch baseball if it happens, but I love the umpires making the calls! There needs to be a wider strike zone anyway. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

  35. One thing people aren’t talking about is that this Ball State team was better than last years. Last year they had several guys injured when they played IU. This year everyone was healthy. Their o line has some big experienced dudes that would play for IU right now. So that was one issue. The IU tackling was a major issue but that will be a focus moving forward. As for the offense until teams start respecting the passing game Scott will struggle because teams will pack it in on Scott which is what happened yesterday. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners

  36. Well the new offensive coordinator doesn’t think Ramsey would be. Yes the o line needs to block better for the backs to run but that’s not on Penix or the offense. That’s just a combination of underperforming and inexperience. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

I saw Purdue was up by two touchdowns with about 10 minutes left and thought nothing of it after that. I had no idea they lost until yesterday evening when I read this thread. Rough week for Gregg Doyel. First Luck, and now this.

  38. We know what we're getting with Ramsey when he's coached by a horrible offensive coordinator. Would he be the same with the new one? Maybe, who knows. Our defense is bad, and our offense had one drive that lasted 4 minutes or more. That's a really bad combination. We need to be able to run the ball, and struggling to do that against ball state is not a good sign.

  39. Dynamic a better word? The Ramsey/DeBord offense was so limited. This offense is well rounded, and I’m hoping they tighten things up as the season progresses. New QB and new OC - I’m giving them the benefit of the doubt that they will improve. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

  41. So because Penix beat a Ball State team that won 4 games last year by a whopping 10 points he's suddenly the savior that can win the big games for us? I don't know which game you were watching, but we were nowhere near hanging 50+ points on them. It was not the defense's fault that we didn't do that. People are really trying hard to convince themselves that this year is going to be different.

  42. Well considering they extended him after last season it is yet to be seen if they have “gotten their money’s worth” He has coached one game under this new contract.....and he lost [emoji6] Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

  43. A win is a win. First game of the season. Rust, jitters, etc. Definitely underwhelmed but I finally have confidence in the coordinators we have on staff to make sure miscues are corrected. Impressed with Penix poise. Disappointed with Marcelino's lack of focus. Looking forward to next week!!!!

  45. Brohm took over a program that had went 1-11, 3-9, 2-10, and 3-9 over the four previous seasons and took them to back to back bowl games. Allen took over a program that had went to back to back bowl games and has missed a bowl the past two years. We can bemoan the fact we're in the harder division, but we don't beat the West teams we play either.

  48. Love seeing Jager on the staff now. Obviously we don't know what the future holds with wins/losses and the longterm success that will/won't come, can we at least agree that Archie gets Indiana and how to build a program? He kept Elston on staff, every recruit he's brought in but one (Forrester) has been from Indiana or at least the greater Midwest area (Hunter/Ohio, Thompson/Minnesota), he added a former player in Mike Roberts to his staff, and now he's added a former player of his to the graduate manager spot where I assume he'll be groomed to one day be a coach. That's how you not only build a program but you build a culture.
