  1. OT....I’m at a bar in Naples, Fl Was walking back from the pisser and a guy taps me on the shoulder. Understand I have an IU shirt on and he says “ so you couldn’t afford to go to Purdue?” I smiled and said thank you for keeping all the ugly girls out of IU”! They really are d-bags! And his wife had a PU shirt one! A$$-a-mucks they are! Understand I’m 60 yrs old ok? Sent from my iPad using BtownBanners

  2. The d-bags wife had a Boiler shirt on and when I made that comment he sure got pissed! Lol. I mean really, I’m 60 and this buttwipe was early 30’s? Wtf? But he got told by an older guy his wife was f’n ugly! Lol Sent from my iPad using BtownBanners mobile app

  3. But no team is going to take him in the second round. Why would you take a guy that would be undersized for their position In hopes that in time he can develop an outside shot? There are plenty of guys with one wart....you don’t have to draft a guy with two.

  4. It didn't ignore the quote about being legal, that is in the article. Fans of opposing teams may, but nothing the journalist can do about that. All the article is doing is shedding a light on something that happens in recruiting. Some here are reading way too much into it.

  11. The problem is, even the most diehard, educated fans probably didn't read the whole article (I know I didn't; that thing was loooonngggg). I know it got plenty of traction on social media and I noticed a handful of comments along the lines of "I knew it! I knew they cheated to get Langford!" That's what makes an article like this so annoying.

  13. True but can he become a 3pt shooter faster staying in college with time restrictions with coaches and class requirements or in the NBA? If some team commits to taking him in the second round even he may need to consider that. All that being said, I think he comes back Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

Happ. I hate him and Wisconsin, but imagine his interior D, and offensive presence for IU? Nasty. Drawback? A distinct lack of spastic celebrations.

  17. Absolutely appreciate the info, and not trying to give you a hard time. Yes, these open gyms do happen all time, probably almost daily, and I’m doubting the info at all that many of the freshmen have been there for some runs with the team. I do doubt that there was any time of “walk through” that involved an actual lineup or the coaching staff. If there was, it was probably player driven just to teach some of the newer guys a set or two for the open gym. Unless the rules have changed, which is entirely possible as it’s been 20 years since I played, the coaches are not allowed in the gym for these open gym/pick up game sessions.

  18. It was Tim’s team. Absolutely asinine to think he didn’t know the value of the sponsorship, especially when the Adidas sources told WaPo that it was made known to the three shoes companies that Tim Langford wanted a grassroots team sponsored by the highest bidder. WaPo also says the quotes between Pitino and Adidas about Langford are supported by text messages he provided them. WaPo ends the article expressing that no one associated with the team is speaking nor validating the sponsorship nor the claimed donation to a non-profit, but there doesn’t appear to be any signs of significant cash windfalls for the parties involved based on publicly available information. The article ends with, not surprising, the news that Twenty Two Vision is no longer running a team. Overall, it’s story that uses a high profile recruit to draw attention to a complex underground system that helps shape college basketball, and further establishes the depth and complexity in solving the corruption associated with it. None of this fits your nor our fan base’s narrative, because it’s a negative story about our recruit. Doesn’t mean it isn’t both factual and relevant. 20. From Steve Helwagen - 247Sports Ohio star Hunter eager to graduate, enroll at Indiana COLUMBUS, Ohio – We caught up with Indiana basketball signee Jerome Hunter during an AAU event this past weekend in central Ohio. The 6-7 Hunter is one of the key pieces in Indiana coach Archie Miller’s 2018 recruiting class, which is ranked ninth nationally and second in the Big Ten. Hunter was a standout for three seasons at Pickerington North High School on Columbus’ east side. As a junior in 2016-17, Hunter led Pickerington North to a 21-7 record and a berth in a Division I regional championship game. Hunter ended the regular season with averages of 19.3 points and 10.9 rebounds per game. He was a special mention All-Ohio pick in Division I. Hunter had offers from a number of schools, including Butler, Dayton, Illinois, Michigan, Ohio State, Pittsburgh and others. He verbaled to new IU coach Archie Miller on July 17, 2017, and signed with the Hoosiers last November. As a senior, Hunter averaged 21 points and 11 rebounds. He shared Division I Central District player of the year honors with Notre Dame signee (and Ohio Mr. Basketball winner) Dane Goodwin. He was also a first-team All-Ohio pick. Hunter had a career-high 46-point game in a triple overtime win over Dublin Coffman. Pick North ended the year 20-5 after an upset loss to Mount Vernon in a D-I district tournament game. Hunter rose from relative obscurity two years ago. He is ranked as the nation’s No. 55 prospect nationally, the No. 12 power forward and Ohio’s No. 2 prospect for 2018, according to the 247Sports Composite. He is joined in the Indiana class by Indiana shooting guard Romeo Langford (ranked sixth nationally), Indiana wing Damezi Anderson (ranked 116th), Indiana point guard Robert Phinisee (ranked 127th) and Pennsylvania power forward Jake Forrester (ranked 139th). Langford recently verbaled to complete that class. Hunter is set to graduate from Pick North on Saturday and will enroll at Indiana on June 12. “I can’t wait to get there,” Hunter said. “I think we are all great players. All of us will be coming together and playing for a new coach and a great coach in Archie. I think we can do something special at Indiana.” Hunter talked about Indiana adding Langford as a late signee. “We had everybody except that one other player,” Hunter said. “I think we got it.” Hunter talked about how he could be used at Indiana. “They see me playing the three there and just being real versatile and using my abilities however he wants to use them,” he said. Hunter said he had no regrets in spurning his hometown school Ohio State for Indiana. “Indiana has been good and has a great history,” he said. “Coming into Indiana with the great fanbase they have, I can’t wait to get there.”

  21. Because that was the point of the article? Adidas made sure he went to an Adidas school? We knew about Adidas doing this for over a year. Maybe closer to two. It was known Tim Langford was shopping his AAU team. It’s legal. I don’t blame him. I have never filed for bankruptcy, but if I did and I could do something not illegal (assuming he filed his taxes accordingly) I would. I don’t give a rats @$$ how people interpret it. That’s on them if they believe their team hasn’t or wouldn’t do this. He took money for his family to stay with Adidas. His dad pocketed $50-$75k easy. Until they close up the loophole there is nothing wrong with it. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

  27. Absolutely, you have to be able to shoot and handle. My post was more just a general comment, not advocating for Morgan being ready for the NBA.

  28. True, but I don't think you can play undersized if you can't reliably shoot from 3. All of the undersized players are good shooters.

  31. This. Locking down the borders means to not let the best players go elsewhere. There’s going to be in-state players that go out of state. But as long as IU gets the best players on a consistent basis, that’s the point. Some of you need to stop being so hypocritical

  32. Are the "open gyms" video taped for later review. It's hard to believe that the coaches don't get some kind of feedback about how those go. In other words, there are ways to be in the gym without "being in the gym".

  33. Teams have open gyms throughout the year and commits/signees play in them all the time as well as invited recruits. This is nothing new and it's not mandatory. Our recruits are all within driving distance outside of Forrester (who wasn't there). This is just info I thought I'd share from somebody close to a recruit. I got the info about Keion and TJD from him as well regarding them having a minor fallout and TJD looking at possibly joining another AAU program this summer since Keions dad is making sure Keion gets his shots up and keeps garnering attention. I also heard that Center Grove will be getting Ethan Watts next year, who also plays on Indy Heat with TJD and Brooks. I haven't heard anything on this yet so I guess time will tell his credibility to the situation. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners

  34. 1) The best sources are the ones involved. Ricky P is arguably the best source on the planet. Not the smartest for putting this out there though. Very easy for a good attorney to pull this out and tear about his credibility when discussing what he does and does not recall. 2) I thought the article read dry and and factual. Professed ignorance is pretty plain commentary if they asked Tim directly about this. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

  36. Not sure why there would be a walk through in May, or if it’s even within the rules for the coaches to be involved with something like that with the entire team this time of year? Not trying to give the poster a hard time, just seems unlikely. If it did happen, I fall into the category that doubts we start three freshmen, especially all in the backcourt, and also not sure if a walkthrough in May would really be any inidication of what the lineup might be in October/Nov.

  37. Because of what is going on in college basketball and it involves a player going to Indiana. Is it illegal? No. Is it a gray area the average person knows about? No. Did people read the article because of above? Yep. It did its job. Also, they aren’t just going off of Pitino’s word. They have his phone records. They quoted those more than him. Again nothing wrong with what the Langford’s did and I don’t necessarily fault them. But to act like it’s not relevant has more to do with our allegiance than anything. Plus they never said Indiana or Langford did anything wrong. It was more informative this was going on. Don’t understand the issue. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

  38. I guess I just don't see 'the sound research'. Tim Langford running an Adidas backed AAU team was public knowledge. The main source going on record is someone suing Adidas who claims to not know anything going on at his own school.....so not sure why his word would be trusted on items going on elsewhere. I don't have any doubt that Adidas wanted Romeo Langford at an Adidas school. I'm not sure why it's considered news that a shoe company looks to keep players in their AAU 'stable' of schools.

  39. Bob Kravitz has an article up that repeats the Post's story with an added shot at CAM. He called Adidas Archie's best recruiter and praised Coach Crean for not playing the game to get top recruits. If what is going on is legal and breaks no rules, then I think it's a little unfair to call it dirty.

  40. Their job isn’t to fix things. Their job is to report on things that people look at. If they keep re-reporting old news people won’t look at it. If they put a bow on something with new names people will look at it. You put Indiana on it many more people will view it. I am guessing everyone that frequents these sites have viewed the article. Then they have told people about it and they have viewed it. Mission accomplished. They did their job. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

  45. Might as well have them and everyone else involved. The more the merrier. He deserves to enjoy the courting process. But between his early relationship with MSU and his statements since Miller arrived and about playing for his state and his dads relationship with Schilling, I would be pretty surprised if he ended up at Kentucky or anywhere else. Just my opinion.
