I think they already do!

As for Kiffin & Ole Miss, it would be a pretty bold move to fire a coach for not signing an extension during the season. They can try to spin that as 'for cause' but not a great look for Ole Miss or Kiffin.

Brett McMurphy is a washed up lazy turd that's in the business to troll in order to keep his click rate quota so that he can stay employed.

I'm not saying Ole Miss are being jerks or not, but they do face a complicated situation here:

1) Ole Miss has had a new contract in front of Lane for about a month now.  He hasn't signed and what that implies is pretty obvious.  I can see why Ole Miss wants an answer at this point.

2) If Lane is leaving, they need to know ASAP so they can start the process to hire a replacement.  Especially with the hyper-competitive coach market this year.

3) If Lane is going, should they let him coach in the playoff?  I don't know.  On one hand he's a very good coach.  On the other hand his departure creates an enormous distraction for the team.  Imagine playing for a head coach who has bailed on your program.  Is it better to have him gone and let the assistants handle it?  Again, I don't know.

4) From Ole Miss' perspective -- they gave him a P4 shot again when they hired him in 2020 and have since given him everything he has asked for in terms of compensation and NIL/resources.  And while Lane has earned it, I can see why Ole Miss may feel slighted by what's happened.  Especially when he danced around with Auburn a few years ago.

This is a really complicated situation if he doesn't sign this week and/or leaves.

I don't really care what happens and it's extremely entertaining!

If he goes to LSU, his daughter can be closer to her BF who is on the defense for LSU I do believe.  Would that sway his thinking if he were to leave?  Kiffin loves drama.

Yeah, Ole Miss hiring a guy like Kiffin and then being surprised that he is who he’s always been really is the scorpion and the frog. Even so, given you know you can win at the highest level there, they’ll pay ridiculous jack and you have the chance to be a god with very little critical scrutiny in comparison to the meat grinders that LSU and Florida have evolved into, I’m not sure why that’s not at least as good if not a better job when taking everything into account. Almost feels like Lanning. Why would he leave a gig that good for what those jobs have turned into?

Well, he did tell McAfee that it's not about money because he's seen a lot of people who got it and aren't happy -says he'll NEVER make decisions based on money. LOL

UM basketball didn't let Bill Frieder coach them in the 89 tournament when they found out he was taking the ASU job. It ended up well for UM by winning the championship

I’ll put my loathing of SEC bias up there with anyone, but if Notre Dame falls tonight because Oklahoma beat Alabama so they move Oklahoma ahead them but don’t drop Bama below them I’m gonna howl. The titanic battle between SEC bias and ND bias.

ESPN's prediction have OK #8, 'Bama #9 and ND #10

This will be my first CFP show this season since Youtubetv just got espn back.  It's good to see that the whole thing where they schedule a game without a buffer that runs over is still a thing

Since he left the Raiders, and minus his 3 years as an assistant at Bama, he's coached 4 teams in roughly a 13 year span. This should not come as a surprise to Ole Miss.

Coaches move.

Cig has been at 4 schools in the last 10 seasons.

Notre Dame over Miami is crazy work, imo. They jump right to the ”we compared their losses and Miami lost to two unranked teams” argument while glossing over the fact that one of Notre Dame’s losses was to…. Miami. It’d be one thing if the rest of ND’s resume blew Miami’s resume away, but it doesn’t. ND’s resume is very mediocre, but they have the big name. ND probably has the best PR of any school in the country.
