Good lord - just this morning we said it was IU because he made his mind up 2 weeks ago.  Let's let this kid make his own decision.  IU is not out of this race.

I know I see people saying that the “known for weeks” comment sounds pro IU but when I put that with the tweet from that one guy with the emojis and now especially the football player (may be the same guy, I don’t know) it just doesn’t bode well for me. Hopefully he’s just looking for attention.

Also, I'm sure DG kept his mouth shut for years, then went to a high school football player and said "I have a huge secret for you".  So ridiculous.  Just kids looking for attention, and by kids, I don't mean DG.  It's the coat tail people who are looking for attention through this situation.

Mehh. We've got a solid recruiting class already and still are in the running for Romeo. If he wants to stay home and play at Vandy then oh well.

This is another reason not to get too invested I the recruiting side of college basketball. I want kids to be successful no matter where they go or what they decide. While it can be a fun diversion at times, we create most of our own drama. We are embarking on an exciting new era for Indiana basketball and the decisions of high school kids aren't going to change that. I'm going to sit back and enjoy the process.

The Vandy 247 guy is a clown, everyone is still saying it is 50-50(or51-49) we still have a more talented class and team than Vandy, Romeo is better than Shittu, and the Garlands have said no committment has been made.

Perhaps there is reason why Archie didn't visit last week, i.e. maybe he was informed that we were out or got enough indications to draw his own conclusion.  IDK, but we'll just have to wait and see.

Like some, I don't really see what the draw to Vandy is and what Drew maybe "selling", but let's face it - if we were to sign both DG and RL there would be others wondering what we're "paying" to get recruits all of a sudden.  I'm not jumping into those baseless suggestions.

I don't think Shittu goes to Vandy without DG. So far Shittu has only cancelled a UNC trip. If anything more solid comes about regarding Shittu to Vandy then I am assuming DG is headed there as well.

Seems to be a lot of momentum right now towards Vandy.

We used the "you can become a state legend" pitch to Romeo and hopefully it works but since DG will hear that pitch being used by us for Romeo it might have some draw for him at Vandy too. He can become THE legend there.

I get the feeling Vandy is trying to do and say everything possible to get a commitment. It smells of desperation to me.

Drew is a good coach and Vandy is a fantastic school. They have had good teams before. Fans of all teams have this bad habit assuming that every time a player goes somewhere else other than their school, then that school must obviously be cheating. Kids go to a college for a ton of different reasons. Just be happy CAM jumped in late in the game and got this far with a high recruit. Wish the player the best of luck and a fruitful basketball career moving forward and then move on. It is entertainment for us, it is a life decision for them.

 

EDIT: I don't know whether DG is going to go to Vandy or not.

I've seen conflicting stories on this. Some say he cancelled the UNC trip and others are saying it was never actually scheduled.

No hate for Vandy.  Nashville has been one of my favorite spots for the last decade.  If I don't stay in the Union Station hotel, then I'm somewhere close to campus just to be around it.  Regardless of how this comes out, I have high regard for Darius.
