I’m gonna be a little extra pissed when UNC brings in a heralded and proven coach. After IU had 3 tries and underwhelmed each and every time.

We’ll see. As an IU fan that wouldn’t bother me that much at all because imo this job hasn’t been on that level since Sampson blew it up and in reality may never have been. But UK, which is inarguably top 4, is being coached by Mark Pope. If UNC is able to bring in a Guy without any problem I would think BBN may collectively slit its wrists.

Another school at odds with family on Twitter RN.  Jasper Johnson’s uncle or whatever going full Woodson on the fanbase.

Id like to take Malachi Moreno off their hands for them.

If I had to log a prediction, UNC isn't going to lure away a "top" coach.  As in no Hurley, Golden, Oats, Dusty, Lloyd types of coaches.

UNC is a great brand, maybe the best in CBB, but in the NIL era that doesn't matter as much.  Coaches can win at a lot more places now.

I don't follow them in detail, but their whole athletic department operation doesn't look great.  The politics and infighting that led to the Belichick fiasco is a red flag and an incoming coach has to wonder what they're walking into and if there will be the all important "alignment."

Looking at the odds right now, Otz is ~25% and next is Billy D at ~20% (lol).  Then it's a bunch of candidates at lower percentage chances.  No clear leader right now.

Otz would be a good get, but he's not quite a "top" coach.  At the end of the day, I think the UK search was telling about the new dynamics in CBB.

It's going to be very interesting.  We'll see what happens.

Pretty sure Jacque Vaughn is getting promoted if/when Self retires.

And they will be in the position in 5 to 6 years that UNC is in now I do believe.  Scheyer is about the only promoted coach of the top of my head right now, and I believe that he was basically running a lot of team the last year or 2 of Coach K.

Vaughn has been doing the same. Replacing somebody like Self is next to impossible.

Yea, I’m really curious how they hold up in the NIL era. Between Dean Smith, Jordan, Nike, and their kind of “coolness” they have been THE recruiting juggernaut of my lifetime.  Thus, making it possibly the top job in college hoops for decades.

Now with NIL that is all potentially secondary. Nike is still there but they’re in at least as equally with Duke. I could see this going in multiple directions easily

Am I crazy? Dusty going to UNC would be the 2nd best thing that could possibly happen for us.

Probably better to get him out of the conference.

I doubt he leaves a place where he has created a national title favorite that might win it all.  That’s hardly a unique take from me lol.

I also wonder if he likes the setup at UM.  Not all coaches like attention.  He’s in the background there.  Frankly UM fans would throw him in a volcano if it meant UM beat OSU in FB.

Yeah not sure why he would go to UNC.  Michigan is gonna let him do whatever just like UNC
