An injury summary article from Cristobal's presser today:

"The good news for Miami per Cristobal, is that EDGE Akheem Mesidor is fine after a minor arm injury in the Semifinals where an Ole Miss lineman feel on his arm. Furthermore, Cristobal noted that DT Ahmad Moten Sr was “full go” in today’s practice, and should continue to be so. Moten Sr. had been battling an ankle issue from a nasty hi-low combination block against Ohio State that ended with his leg rolled up on by an OSU lineman but no penalty called for the infraction.

As far as defensive backs O.J. Frederique and Damari Brown go, Cristobal said Frederique should be good to go in the National Championship game, while Brown is more “day to day” with his injury.

The injury that could affect Miami most is the one to TE Elija Lofton. While he didn’t go into specifics, Cristobal did say that the player in question who might not be able to play in the National Championship Game is Lofton, a starter on Miami’s offense.

If Brown is unable to play, expect to see more of true freshman CB Jaboree Antoine in the secondary. He played well in his snaps in the Semifinals, and will likely get more snaps in the Championship Game with starter Xavier Lucas suspended for a half due to a targeting call from the previous game. Double that if Frederique is limited in his game action.

With Lofton doubtful* — my assumption based upon Cristobal’s words today not an official designation — for the National Championship Game, look for more snaps from co-starter TE Alex Bauman, and snaps from true freshman Luka Gilbert. Miami could also go with even more 3 WR sets instead of 2 TE sets to utilize the depth at receiver over tight end in spots."

Miami makes too many mistakes holding just a 19-13 edge in turnovers and they average 7 penalties a game for 57 yards.

By contrast, Indiana's TO margin is 32-9; and they average 3.5 penalties for 25 yards.

Indiana is not going to revert to the mean.  Miami is going to have to play their best...and with added hype and the "out of the locker room" enthusiasm, they're just not a great bet to keep it up for 4 quarters.  We all know Indiana is terrific against the run...allowing just 3.0 YPC.  Miami only runs it for 4.1 YPC (IU 5.2), so they're not explosive and Carson Beck does tend to throw it to the other team more than Mendoza does.

Miami's defense is legit....no doubt.  If Indiana can move the ball and the chains....and keep Mendoza clean most of the night, we'll win comfortably.  Miami isn't exactly known for their discipline and I'll take Indiana over 4 quarters against anyone.   I predicted 42-13 for the good guys.

A blowout would shock me. This Miami team is good. A great QB, a good RB, a great WR.  Good at the lines.  Athletic on O and D.

SMU was a badish loss but Louisville isn’t too bad of a loss. Beat TexasAM, beat Ohio State. Dominated the team they were supposed to.

Our season feels storybook so why not finish it off but Miami is better than I originally thought.

Their coach is a maniac though, I’d love for us to get him riled up.

But is this worth shelling $3500 to see live?

It’s ridiculous, but the prices have been fairly high the last couple of seasons.

I don’t know what the expectation is. I’m hoping they’ll drop a bit by the weekend, but I can’t imagine they’ll go below $2000. Maybe $2500 is a reasonable floor?

The lowest last year went all the way down to $1800 after it being in the $3000s. But with this matchup, I’m not sure they will drop below $2800 again. Although I’m not attending the game, I hope they prices drop reasonably for the fans.
