I just think they’re fundamentally sound in the trenches. Hopefully it’s just the chorizo burrito that’s killing me. To me Iowa was going to be our toughest matchup. Iowa has a bigger and fundamentally excellent line and pride themselves on trying not to make too many mistakes. Our teams strength is that we’re more fundamentally sound and efficient than our opponents. Knew this would be ugly but glad we won. Just wished we threw it more because I felt Mendoza and his quick release was going to make the difference. I really feel we have a better shot against Oregon. thebigweave and MemphisHoosier 2 Quote
TTT Posted September 28, 2025 Posted September 28, 2025 I guess it’s a good thing for IU that QB didn’t accidentally drop the ball or get it kicked out of his hands while running for a safety. Quote

Stuhoo Posted September 28, 2025 Posted September 28, 2025 God bless Pat Coogan. After the third quarter he brought the whole team together, and in extremely indelicate terms, got them ready to run through a muthafuggin wall for the fourth quarter. WayneFleekHoosier Posted September 28, 2025 Posted September 28, 2025 Whew! Watched game from phone at birthday lunch, then from car, then ultimately at a family members hockey game. Lol. Busy day. Snatched victory from the Jaws of defeat, and I’m here for it. Tough, gritty win. Some chinks in the armor, but that’s a strong win. Also no love lost between Cig and Ferentz at the end. Hardwood83 Posted September 28, 2025 Posted September 28, 2025 Is this team as good as they looked against Illinois? No. Are they as bad as they looked today? No. Somewhere in between. They aren't elite Top 5 level, but around top 10. During and immediately after the game I was pissed off. Yes, it's a 'tough enviroment' and Iowa is sound on defense, but that was ugly. If their QB doesn't get hurt, they win. If their dependable kicker doesn't pull a very makable FG, they win.....But with a little time to reflect, this is still IU football and any win should be celebrated. Finally, does anyone have an explanation for what happened on the last possession? Overall the game was reasonably well officiated, but that final sequence was completely inexplicable. The referee should be publicly shamed and fired, at the very least. I simply can not understand any scenario where what he did was not malfeasance or gross incompetence. moyemayhem 1 Quote

When the focus was on making him the focal point of the offense he was really good. Even his interception was the result of being in a 3rd and 15 because of questionable run calls. I remember Michigan blowing a game to Michigan State in those circumstances. they were not getting the ball back. In fact, they didn’t even with the BS. What if it was one of their D linemen that got rolled up on and ended up with a season ending injury? Stupid is as stupid does. Quote
