Yes! I am praying this isn't another situation where everything is fine and everyone is crazy for panicking until it isn't. Everyone could be overreacting or there could be underlying circumstances like possibly everyone not being in favor of how he handled bailing on west v after only 1 year. Could be nothing could be a problem?

That’s right. Everything could be A Ok and all a part of some ingenious plan but there are signs already that things are not going as planned. The fact that we don’t have a complete staff out recruiting and bringing their players here is a real head scratcher and also a head scratcher nobody followed DeVries here that wasn’t his son. That is one of the most important reasons to hire a P5 coach is to have them bring some of that talent with them and that didn’t really happen.

I have a question for those who would know……. How many of the same people responsible for hiring/retaining Mike Woodson were still in a position of decision making authority for the most recent hiring cycle?

My point was to lay out a few facts as to how DeVries went about a similar situation last year, to help people settle down.  Much on the same timeline as May, Pope, and Kelsey last year (who all made the tournament by the way).  You're welcome to work yourself up in a lather over a coach that's been here 2 weeks, though.  

As someone else commented in response to my post, I'm not one to blame the fanbase for the programs' failings.  I've been around a long time and supported an underachieving program for a quarter century now, just like many others have.  Most fans are beyond great.  But I gotta tell ya, this board's response to not having a full staff and at least half a full roster when no facts or evidence suggests that is a realistic expectation makes this fanbase look very soft and emotionally fragile.  Quite frankly, it is embarrassing.  How about if we give the guy a chance.

My perspective fwiw after following this closely:

While Scott was AD, Quinn/Ferguson/other donors very heavily influenced the Woody hire and keeping him on for a 4th year.  Tough for a new AD to go against the Chairman of the BoT and large donors, they have to approve the coach hire.  Last year when Woody failed and football did very well, Scott gained a lot of credibility and influence.

This search was basically all Scott with Pam in support (like the Cig hire).  This has been confirmed by folks who cover IU and it also proved out by the lack of leaks (only Scott and 2-3 other people knew).  So good or bad, in my view CDD is basically all on Scott.  

As an aside, I think it's good our AD is running our athetlic dept again.  If the results are poor, fine, change the AD, but we can't have the BoT/donors/Presidents doing the AD's job, because that group of people is terrible at running an athletic dept.

Yeah, you did a pretty good job of bashing people on this board this time as well - “Emotionally fragile” “embarrassing”. Not sure why you need to talk about people on this board that way. I haven’t seen anyone acting that way. 

it’s fair to point out what coach did last year and what other coaches did last year but the need to throw in jabs is strange.

“Discuss” is exactly what I did.  And again, things are moving “slow” compared to what?  Compared to any school’s timeline that has ever done this before?  No.  Compared to unrealistic expectations of some people who apparently believe our timeline should be different from everyone who’s ever done this before?  Perhaps so.
