Some, including me, are frustrated with the state of the program over the past 25-30 years, and the ineptitude of the administration to appear to even give a crap about the legacy of Indiana basketball. Hiring Mike Woodson was a mistake of epic proportions. Keeping him for FOUR YEARS, was borderline criminal. The frustration continues to build, based on past decisions, and fear or concern that the administration doesn’t care enough to even try to right the ship.

The new hire (Darien DeVries) gives us a glimmer of hope once again… but there’s a part of me that feels like Charlie Brown, running up to kick the football, knowing that Lucy is sitting there waiting to pull the ball away one more time.

Sometimes negativity is the only way to react to this mess. And while hope springs eternal, the doom and gloom is always there in the back of my mind.

The silence is both frightening and encouraging. Is it silent because it’s ready to fail again? Or is this time really going to be different? Unfortunately, we cannot and will not know until we know.

I think there's a little Charlie Brown in most of us where IU basketball is concerned... and for good reason. Still, there's not much value in assuming failure, there will be plenty of time for negativity if the ball gets pulled out from in front of us again.

What was that belief that Bob Knight imparted to Connie Chung, many years ago?

To paraphrase, if there's nothing you can do about your situation, you may as well enjoy the ride.

Not saying we shouldn't be cognizant of what's transpiring, but there's nothing we can do about the hiring, recruiting or portaling process, so we may as well enjoy the ride.

He was the Video and Player Development Analyst. I think IU will be fine

Any intel on who and when the staff will be finalized?  Any ideas on the 4-5 we have ready to sign by end of the week?

This is distressing. Other programs, even those with new personnel and complete rebuilds, seem to be way ahead in nailing down staff and player commits at this point in time. Hope not, but perhaps Devries OPUD’ed (over promised, under delivered) what his ‘package’ would be (who he could bring in player and staff wise). If Cig is the model…he seemed to have a lot more wrapped up early on…filled the offices and depth charts while Allen’s seat was still warm - and then over delivered. This program is desperate for immediate success. Giving Tucker $3M in addition to  Pops salary seems kinda sus - I guess we’ve mismanaged sooo much administratively, what should stop us from mismanaging the budget. If nothing else, the Devreis will certainly walk away with generational wealth - here’s to hoping they earn it!

Jesus...

1. Relax

2. Don't believe rumors of NIL numbers; almost all of them are BS.

3. Relax

4. DeVries is not Cig.  Football is not basketball.  Cig brought everybody over from JMU, of course he had everything done quicker.  Everybody DeVries wanted to bring over from WVU is in place at Indiana already.

5. Relax

6. What teams in need of full rebuilds have gotten 8+ players out of the portal at this point?

7. Relax

+ 1,000,000

To quote a real estate dude I know, "you guys got to chill".

I believe on his call with former players he said that we should have 4-5 new signees by the end of this week

I think that isn't the case because others on that zoom call said that wasn't what coach said
