New Basketball Staff Thread

Does anyone know if Iowa or Minnesota have their staffs filled yet? I could look it up but I’m kind of on the lazy side. That would tell me if we’re on pace or behind. 

I believe NC State and Texas have their staffs. Not sure about Iowa and Minnesota specifically.

Looks like Villanova's staff is leaving for the most part.  Those guys played there and have been there a long time and accomplished a lot (Nardi and Anderson I'm specifically speaking of).  Wonder if those guys would be interested.

ABSOLUTELTY!  Winners don't just have a plan "A"!  They have multiple plans and don't completely abort everything when plan "A" doesn't happen.

Almost everybody here freaks out when plan "A" falls through.  Real life doesn't work that way!  You can make something from nothing, if you know what you are doing!  This is the most confident I have been since Sampson was fired!

I know football is the driver in college sports and I LOVED this past football season, but IU basketball is #1 for me.

Wouldn’t have any interest in them being here and doubt they would either. Don’t think they have strong regional ties and not particularly successful as coaches at Nova anyway.

The lack of staff at this point has been more concerning than portal commits.  Was hoping our guy would have folks lining up wanting to coach with him, but the timeframe for staff additions appears otherwise.  The lack of assistants can’t be a positive for recruiting in the portal for many reasons…

yeah it is clear this thing is a total flop.  we might as well start a new coaching search.  or maybe even just shut down the program.   April 9th. maybe we can become a pickleball school or something

Well, it’s been 25 minutes and we don’t have a full pickleball coaching staff and roster, so our administration must be a total dumpster fire.

I think it shows he has a process and he is fine if it takes longer to get the right coaches in place.   He showed putting together his last staff he has no problem waiting to fill his staff.   He did with Ostrom who was added late late in the process.   Only my opinion but looks like he has a list he is working from and went after some top guys from Elite 8 level programs.   Good for him not settling and going after other power 5 assistants that their schools fought for them.  Just like in the portal if you are going for players that no other top schools want then they are probably the wrong ones to go after.   Seems DeVries is treating IU like the big time program it should be.   I’m sure there are plenty of coaches lined up for the job but I’m glad he isn’t lowering his standard just because some view it as late in the process on April 9th.   If he lands Wilkerson does he get bonus points for doing it without a full staff?

Good point. We can't even transition to pickleball correctly.  Maybe one day we will find out spot.

I'm not overly worried and don't think the sky is falling, but I do think it's a valid point. I think there are a select number of guys that assistant coaches are going to go out of their way to join their staff. At least at this point, it doesn't look like CDD is one of those guys. That's OK, there aren't many of those types of coaches, but it makes everything harder.
