People who aren't fans of the hire. Usually casuals who heard enough of the rumors to get themselves expecting an outcome with the lowest probabilities but don't grasp the landscape well enough to see the whole picture.

Absolutely no one should criticize DeVries for going to the high school state championships.  NO ONE.  After what we saw with Woody, it is refreshing to see a coach care about such things.  And I am sure the man has his phone with him and if anything really important comes up during the games he can still handle it.  Keep up the good work DRock!!!

I totally agree! Why on earth would anyone criticize that? He HAS to start forming relationships in the state. That helps with the short term portal moves as well depending on where some targets went to high school. Plus, you're right, cell phones make mobile recruiting possible...just ask Kelvin Sam.....nevermind....

Anyone attending, was DeVries engaging with the fans at all - photo ops, etc?     I’m curious if he was the outgoing type, or wish he could hide like Archie?   I attended a game with Painter watching Sisley where Painter was basically working the gym with photo ops and shaking hands all night.

SIAP but I've seen numerous rumors that Drew Adams has been hired as an assistant. He was seated besides Coach DeVries at the state finals, chatting it up much of the evening.

If any of you recall, Adams was the assistant at Cincinnati that has a close relationship with Flory Bidunga, and many thought Flory would end up at Cincinnati with him.

Agree. I think it is common sense for the head coach of Indiana University to be there, even if maybe one-two guys have a shot of playing at IU. He saw a heck of a 4A game.

He isn’t a politician. Let’s not demand public appearances from the guy when we don’t even have a team yet for next year. 

It's an excellent use of his time. Now he realizes how bad CMW and staff botched not recruiting Singleton. If he's looking to build and specifically long term.. Last night being in Gainbridge Fieldhouse was one of the best uses of his time.

yeah part of his duties right now is repairing relationships and putting himself out there in the state. Not ideal with 0 roster but stuff that needs done.

But a couple hours on a Saturday evening to be very visible at the State finals and shmooze other coaches can’t hurt that… also just earns so many brownie points with fans. Maybe the bar is in hell after the last 4 years but if things don’t work out here at least we know it won’t be for lack of effort.

If we’re doing legacy kids I watched Henderson’s kid in the 2A game. Wasn’t much there but I think he’s a sophomore and about 6’6” and looked like he hadn’t even hit puberty yet…lol. I could see him being a late bloomer. Maybe a walk on or something
