I think you'd get more of what you're looking for if they did another one of these in maybe a month and a half or two months when the staff is filled and at least most of the roster is filled out. 

Then DeVries could speak on specific staff members and what they'll bring to the table and talk specifics on players and how they'll be used in his system. 

Would love to see another one of these sometime in mid-May or something.

I’m sure I missed your post previously but I don’t understand the timeline based on what the AD says here.

Why did IU need to interview him in STL? He had a week after the MVCT until Selection Sunday.  Sounds like he talked to Iowa during that week.  Sorry that I missed it but why couldn’t IU wait until those days after the Valley Tourney?

Note- I would be happy with either guy so this isn’t a complaint. Just curious.

Exactly how it sounds. Remember the joke about Woody handing off the keys yesterday? Well while that wasn't quite literal, Woody's office didn't come available until yesterday and DDV was working out of the players lounge.

Maybe I missed it but I didn't hear that he talked to anyone before they were done playing. I believe we had given someone a March 15 deadline to decide. 

We made the right choice, and it all worked out like it was supposed to.

IMO plausible deniability comes into play in a great many coaching searches.  I did not have any conversations with university 'x'.  Didn't lie.  All the convos were with his agents and they in turn had a convo with the coach.

The timeline doesn’t.  The AD says it very clear.  We wanted to talk to him in STL.  Why not the Monday after STL?  Had a week. That’s when Iowa talked to him.

One positive from working in there is that he could catch the players when they came in so he can meet and talk with them.  I suppose that is a positive thing?  Other than that, Woody should've been out of that office abut the time of the press conference, but they could have been cleaning and sanitizing it to get any residue of mediocrity out of it.  It might have even been repainted?

Most likely scenario...an agreed upon retirement date was set. Any normal person would clean their stuff out the day the season ended. Woody being Woody means his stuff stays until the 11th hour and IU being No Hurt Feelings University means they don't ruffle feathers.

I don't know the details, but I do know how IU operates and the goofiest possible scenario is usually the most likely.
