I think had they both said yes right away it would be McCollum. However, there were concerns with him. Scott had concerns about his high-level recruiting. Credit to trilly on that nugget:)

McCollum as much as I like him this would have been the biggest issue.  Great coach.  Question with him will be consistency at this level.  If I was him I would be very choosy where I ended up.  I wanted him here but I also don’t think it would have been the best fit for him.  He is a great basketball mind though.  I think DeVries if you think about it will be the better fit long term.

Idk, but I want the coach who doesn’t need time to think about it. By the looks of it, DD touched down in Bloomington before the ink was even dry.

It's been mentioned before that other coaches would crawl to Bloomington, whether that's true or not we will never know.

We finally found one who would!

He didn't say no he just wanted time to think about it and DeVries said yes immediately.

Ron Howard voice over, "McCollum said no."

I've been offered a couple of jobs where this was my answer when I didn't really want the job but wanted to keep my door open just in case I didn't get the job I really wanted. Sounds like he's either content where he's at or he has his eyes on a bigger prize.

SIAP.    From The Daily Hoosier -

4-star class of 2025 forward Trent Sisley tells me he spoke to Darian DeVries about 30 minutes after the news of the hire broke. There's no change of plans here, he's a Hoosier.

Pretty amazing Trent didn't have to initiate the call!  dws

30 minutes! That's impressive, straight to work.

We wanted to get the ball rolling and neither was a bad choice. I think we got the better end of the deal IMO

Yes, I think both will be successful, but DeVries’ system will be much more entertaining to watch (first 12 seconds priority) while McCollum had many worried about his pace of play and recruiting.

I don’t know, I think DD/BM are a couple of the best two up and coming coaches right now and last night was the first time I got to see a full game of Drake, and although I think they got bogged down a couple times, they were highly entertaining to watch and really had Missouri back on their heels for a lot of the game.

Whether one believes it or not, all parties have pretty much said negotiations were happening long before tourney selections were made.

I get that, I just wondered iwhen the actual offer was actually made? I’m sure they asked if both wanted the job, I’m guessing when WVU missed Dolson jumped on cdd. Could be wrong. Maybe Scott prayed for a sign to show which one of the two was right choice?

Let alone his ranting on the sidelines. He makes Tom Crean look like Bob Ross. For @Home Jersey that means calm and serene
