sirhoosierlot Posted February 27 Posted February 27 I'd like to see Malik finish his career here and I think he will. I'm still on the Tucker train because I think he can develop into a really really good player. Would love to have Goode back for another year. Rice, KC and Mbako will be surprises if they're here next year. MikeRoberts 1 Quote
Class of '66 Old Fart Posted February 27 Posted February 27 To me, the writing's on the wall that Tucker is gone. Hasn't played a single minute in either of our last 2 games and only played 5 vs UCLA and 7 vs MSU. MikeRoberts, LamarCheeks and OliviaPope40 3 Quote

I’m not sure Cupps is gone unless the new coach waves him off. Splitting would fly in the face of that whole Cupps family ethos that “we persevere through every damn thing”. But Dayton would love him. On the actual question the only 1 I’d bet a reasonable amount on staying is Reneau. Mgbako’s long gone. Jakai needs to go somewhere where every memory of college isn’t rehabbing. Tucker wants shots. If he sees shots in the new system, maybe. I’d bet against the Rice/Carlyle parley, but if the system fits them maybe the next guy tries to keep 1 or both of them. Quote
RaceToTheTop Posted February 27 Posted February 27 If our new coach is currently college coach, expect to see a player or few to come with them MikeRoberts 1 Quote
AKHoosier Posted February 27 Posted February 27 Reneau is probably the only one I want back next year. The rest of them I could not care less. Goode I would definitely welcome back, but there's no way he gets granted an additional year so I'm not really including him. I doubt Newton ever plays meaningful minutes, but I wouldn't mind keeping him around in case he does fully heal and get his chance. MikeRoberts 1 Quote

Cupps to Dayton has seemed like a terribly kept secret since before Christmas, but I suppose it could have changed. No offense to him, but I won't lose a wink of sleep either way. go iu bb and Demo 2 Quote

Popular Post 68Hoosier Posted February 27 Author Popular Post Posted February 27 I had the pleasure of being in the locker room prior to HH the year before last. Took my grandson and got to meet the players and walk around. The only scholarship player to come over and generally talk to him was Reneau. He was giving him high fives and asked if he wanted to get a picture. Just from meeting him and not based on the game, he seemed to be a great ambassador for the team. He left a good impression on me, and I would love to see him finish his career at IU. Class of '66 Old Fart, Hollywood Mike Miranda, mamasa and 20 others 23 Quote
BA47591 Posted March 2 Posted March 2 Personally I think Mgbako is unfixable in the way that Pitino or other really demanding coaches want defense played. He needs to hope for a great shooting performance at the combine. I hope whomever our next coach is will be that type of coach. I think Reneau can be a killer next year with a coach that can get that out of him. Channel his emotional shortcomings into intensity. Tucker could really pop in that environment as well. I wouldn't give up on Carlyle in that type of situation. A perfect scenario would be a coach that could hit the portal only needing 3 or 4 pieces, starting with a mix of their players they bring and recruits, along with a handful of ours and recruits. If we end up with a 4th or 5th choice coach that needs 10+ players out of the portal, we might be hard to watch next year. MikeRoberts 1 Quote
Coach Robby Posted March 2 Posted March 2 Maybe I´m dreaming and I know we have no clue who will be here, who the coach will be, etc. Does Zrno start from day 1? I think he might be the best newcomer (sans JHS) we´ve had in a long time. Parakeet Jones and Stuhoo 2 Quote

Obviously no way to gauge what a starting lineup could possibly look like, but Zrno’s gonna play. He just turned 22. He’s a growna$$ man and he plays against men. Easy to see him in a Goode role. That stroke will play and he looks like he can do a little more than that. Class of '66 Old Fart, WayneFleekHoosier, Stuhoo and 1 other 4 Quote

BA47591 Posted March 6 Posted March 6 Iowa State has 8 players on their roster that have eligibility beyond this year and 5 recruits signed. 3 of which are 4☆ talents. Otzelberger is the best candidate that isn't a fantasy or "controversial. There's a world where we keep our recruiting class and a couple of his to go along with 5 guys of this year's cyclone roster. Could we flip Braylon? Maybe Goode gets the extra year. In a scenario like this, I don't care to see any off the rest of our current roster back. IU Prof, Hovadipo, cybergates and 2 others 5 Quote

Hovadipo Posted March 19 Posted March 19 Now that the ship has a captain, we can dust this bad boy off. My tone hasn't really changed on what I want (send everyone packing), but I won't be shocked if we keep a couple from this year's roster. Who? No idea. If you promised me that DDV could change Kanaan's mindset from a chucker to a stopper, I'd be all for keeping him. I think Rice is a good player under proper leadership, but idk if he's mean enough for DDV. Obviously would love to have Goode back, just don't see it. Tucker, Mgbako, and to a lesser extent Malik? See ya. OliviaPope40, Crimson and Cream and JaybobHoosier 3 Quote
Jeff Flabjohns Posted March 19 Posted March 19 Rice just looked grossly overmatched, physically, in so many of our matchups. He got destroyed by Hepburn in Atlantis and seemingly never recovered. No doubt he has skills and seems like a good locker-room guy from all accounts. I’ll trust the staff in whoever they choose to bring back, but I’d prefer we cut Rice loose. Quote
