This just isn’t a factor for me, and Drew would be returning to IN where he’s from fwiw Quote

coonhounds Posted February 25, 2025 Posted February 25, 2025 What am I missing? Is drew a good coach? Yes. Is a a home run? 20 plus year career at the same school and 1 final four and 1 championship. Stuhoo Posted February 25, 2025 Posted February 25, 2025 Drew has a national championship. He is clearly an excellent coach. But the operative question is not who has won a championship; it’s who will win a championship. So I’d take Otz over Drew. edit: my use of "I'd take" lol. Of course, I'd be happy with either. 8bucks and coonhounds 2 Quote
Popular Post Hoosierfan2017 Posted February 25, 2025 Popular Post Posted February 25, 2025 Let’s be for real guys. Drew would be an absolute grand slam. He took Baylor over after a literal murder scandal. One of the harshest non-death penalty punishments ever issued. After his first four seasons, he’s won 70% of his games over the past 18 years in a P5 conference at a school that had four NCAA tournament appearances in its history before he got there. We should be over the moon at the possibility of landing him. Ghost of Rick Majerus, Jeff Flabjohns, DLG3 and 12 others 9 6 Quote

Drew has never finished worse than 15 in the NET since it has been used. He is currently having his worse year in his last 5 years and he is NET 30. For reference IU best finish was 30 in Woodys second year. Other than that you are looking at a program that finishes in the 50s and was in the 90s last year. Drew has 5 in the last 5 years. Don’t make this more difficult. Drew to IU would be a game changer for a program that definitely needs a shot in the arm Hoosier Roots, Jeff Flabjohns, rcbowla and 15 others 14 4 Quote

Though I suspect after his intro presser I would get all excited and optimistic as I always do with a new coach. He has won it all I will tell myself. On one hand I’m not very excited about Drew as our coach but on the other hand winning a Natty at Baylor is beyond impressive. I don’t really remember much about that team. Did he have a Wade type talent, ala Crean, or was it something else? Natty is very impressive but this will be his third year in a row with at least 7 conference losses. NIL issues, something else? EDIT: Just looked at his yearly results, at Baylor, and saw that his first season was 20003-2004. Since that time he has taken BAYLOR, to the Elite 8 three times vs. zero for IU during that time frame. I’m still not that thrilled but he has certainly done some positive things at a historically putrid program. Quote

Unexpectedflash Posted February 25, 2025 Posted February 25, 2025 Tbh i usually push back at the notion that our fans are crazy or we have unrealistic expectations but seeing people not excited over Scott drew has me questioning that. We have not been a good program the last 20 years. Pulling a coach that has won a natty before would be the coup of the century. I wanted him last search before woody and he went and won a title. I’d be ecstatic to get drew because we’d be consistently great again Hoosierfan2017, cybergates, johnsoniu and 3 others 5 1 Quote
JSHoosier Posted February 25, 2025 Posted February 25, 2025 Drew would be a homerun hire. He's won at Baylor, in a state where football recruiting is more important than basketball. This, but even then you’re underselling it. lol.. Baylor had went to the tournament 4 times in their entire history, and that’s largely because they had a nice little run in the late 40s. They had been to the tournament just once since it expanded to at least 32 teams. Baylor basketball was a wasteland before Drew and that’s not even diving into scandal right before he took over. What he built there is nothing short of amazing. I don’t know what that would mean for IUs future but Drew’s resume on that rebuild just about dwarfs any other candidate’s. BA47591 Posted February 25, 2025 Posted February 25, 2025 I think we can all agree on the basics. Someone that brings a culture of playing their guts out on both ends. If not a55 meet seat. Then, identifying and getting the players that fit that culture, hs and portal. That has to be our foundation. ALASKA HOOSIER 1 Quote
