Do Not Fire Mike Woodson

A thread for those who don’t want Mike Woodson fired, or wish to compliment coach when he does his job well.

I’ll start; last year’s roster construction really stunk. This year’s looks markedly different and better.

I don't know if CMW is the best coach for IU, but I do know that he was one of my favorite players when he played here.  I probably wouldn't have hired him to be IU's coach but he was hired. I will support and respect the man for as long as he is here. I think he has earned that. I also think that Quinn Buckner has done enough for IU to deserve respect. Those teams were arguably the best in college basketball history. It's disappointing sometimes the way we treat the people who built the IU basketball brand. I know others disagree with this and that's ok. We all want to see IU win another national championship.

I like that you added this thread @Stuhoo, everyone's opinions and thoughts can now be put out there without it being a 'response' to a thread, let the down with CMW and the compliment CMW if/when deserved threads run in tandem.

I'll likely be posting in both. This is CMW's season to prove he can use a well built roster including shooting with a more diverse, balanced offense and not just a play through the post, front-court player system no matter what. I hope he does, regardless, this season should be a good one.

@IUFAN1976 prompted the idea.

He had been posting complimentary things about coach - liking the roster construction and the Dallas James addition, but the only place to put those vis-à-vis Woodson has been the 'Fire' thread. This way, the 'Fire' thread can carry the thoughts of people who are pissed at him, and this thread can carry the upside posts.

I approve of the addition of this thread.  

It is very easy to criticize Coach Woodson.  Heck, it is easy to criticize anyone who is in a position and has to make decisions.  

But Coach Woody has made quite a few bad ones.  He also has made some good ones.  But the bottom line is the product on the floor and off court, how they represent Indiana University. 

Just win, baby!  

(Now for the triggering of those that aren't 'True Fans'.  I could say that IU gave RMK 4 or 5 years before he hung the first NC Championship banner.  And how many years did they give Tom Cringe, I mean Crean?)  Heh  /s  

And no, I do not unreservedly support a coach that does not produce.  Woody is on double not-secret probation.  He is walking the plank as we speak.

24, 45, 81. Those are IU’s def eff #’s by year under Woody. Everyone worried about the offense is missing the bigger picture. 
 

All that new talent will almost be impossible to keep IU out of the top 25 in offense. But it won’t necessarily fix our perimeter defense and over helping.  If Woody can fix that he’ll have a chance of getting more people into this thread than the other one.

Woody had a rough 23024 season, but he has had the best off-season IU basketball has had in a long time. He has plenty of questions to answer but they all can be answered by winning. There are a few people that are too dug in too deep to probably ever acknowledge success if it happens, but eff em. Now if Indiana isn't top 3 in the Big 10, doesn't advance to the sweet 16, then his job should be questioned again. If Indiana places in the bottom half of the Big 10 and/or miss the tournament again, then sorry, we need a new coach. I'm here to support Mike Woodson and his roster improvement and his comments about playing a more modern version of college basketball (even though I was vocal we should go after Bruce Pearl.)

Fair - both sides of the ball matter. With the improved guard depth we should be better defensively as well.
