Last year Kelsey was all hope and potential. Didn’t stop him from landing top guards like Hepburn.

Idk if it matters in this case.  But another reason we should have cut Woodson loose last year.  It was already getting bad at the end of last year, and then they come out and look like absolute garbage right out of the gate which just fanned the flames, eventually leading to the total shitshow that was the Illinois game.  It all would have been avoided if we had done what 90% of people knew had to be done.  Woodson was never going to win here and was 66 years old.  (And there is obviously no excuse for those fringe ******* fans who DM players... they are scum)

Still a ton of talent in the portal.  Hopefully we can go get a few of them.

People are already jumping off a cliff for a guy who'd been to how many schools? I wanted Conwell, but people are really overreacting about one guy. Sorry, but he's obviously taking the biggest offer. We have to build an entire team from scratch.

I think the April 7 thing makes it a little different this year but if I remember correctly Small didn’t commit till the end of April.

I would like to point out hepburn averaged 9 ppg the year before transferring. Devries is going to have to have a surprise year I think with some lesser known players before we start winning every recruiting battle like we want. If the money is the same players are going to choose the more proven coach

Dang. Losing Conwell really stings.

Look at it from his point of view though. You visit IU right now, you're meeting a coach who barely knows his way around campus and doesn't even have his staff finalized.

You can't form a relationship with your future teammates on the recruiting visit, because your team doesn't exist yet. 

That matters.

Not every year is the same as the last in terms of who is available in the portal. Nor is every player's decision-making paradigm the same as the next.

Let's not act like a single recruiting miss will define this portal season. We have 10 more roster spots to fill. There are a lot of other irons in the fire. Just chill.

Not going to hit the panic button yet, but maybe the biggest red flag with Archie Miller early on was that no one was drawn to him and he couldn't bring in any talent right off the bat. He was here 4 months before he finally got a commitment from anybody (yes, I know that was pre-portal). We have literally a whole roster to fill, we'll pay well, and we're sitting here watching other programs load up with new players. 

 

This is why the DeVries hire didn't excite me. Nothing about him is going to excite people about coming here. We think Indiana is a special place with everything a basketball coach could want, but teenagers don't see it that way. They need to be convinced. Right now I'm not sure we have someone who can do that.

To be honest, none of us have any idea what is going on behind the scenes. We have no idea if IU offered as much as L'ville. 

We have no idea what Conwell thinks about Kelsey compared to Devries. 

We have absolutely no idea what Conwell thinks about how toxic IU's fanbase is. 

We do know that there are a lot of people here who write a lot of creative fan fiction, though. LOL

Not too many proven guys out there with his size, athleticism, and shooting acumen. This one stings.

Goes to Louisville for split minutes. Tough loss. And not good recruiting JuJu going forward. Mikel Brown is probably the one that loses minutes more, but still competition for minutes.
